Do your job VERGE. If not, you don't deserve to be AD

That’s the what you post at 540 in the morning… talk about rent free.

Wow how quickly our fans will turn on their own. Verge just pulled off an absolute homerun hire just a few months ago with Lane Kiffin and already wanting to can him if the basketball ordeal doesn’t fit your timeline lol.

Verge told me to tell you to write that 9 million buyout check and McMahon will be fired soon as the funds are verified! If you not writing the check then stfu

Not really. It's no different than CBK hire - you offer essentially double their salary and is anyone going to rebuff you?
Lane was around 7-8M last season and he's around 13M now.

No one was bidding against us for Kelly. Much different.

relax kid.
per a reputable source on TOS he is gone.
now as far as who we get for replacement? who knows.
Just because our president talks to WW weekly does not mean he comes back here. We just need a good coach and a new commitment to roundball.

So Mascona's sources are wrong again?

JD on TOS is not moscona. i will let you figure out what site i am talking about. He has been right many times before.

He aint going anywhere. Recent info floating around is preparing you for that. Pay attention to it. They are not spending $10-11 million to get rid of him and his asst's after being on the hook for $54 mi with Kelly. This is easy to see.

We aren't the ones that mismanaged athletic department funds so badly that you can't afford to fire the worst coach in program history for the only other sport that turns a profit

I would love to see Wade return. But I don't want to see LSU overpay (i.e. 6M+ annual salary). More than that, I HOPE there is not an either/or mindset of the people making this decision. That is (either) Wade (or) McMahon returning. Moving on from McMahon MUST be the first decision. If Wade isn't who replaces him it will be disappointing, but not a non-starter. That means LSU moves on to a different candidate...likely from the mid-major ranks...and that is not a "failure". The only "failure" would be retaining McMahon to continue on with this total waste of time in LSU basketball history...in a program that has had quite a few of those.

I mean, yes in that business you are going to be right sometimes and wrong sometimes when you opine, but he was pretty insistent in this case.
Of course he went out of his way to qualify but saying anything can happen, but that was strictly a CYA side comment, his main point was big money folks were telling him directly there was donor fatigue and a buyout unlikely.

he may be wrong this time, guess we will see.
we dumped a fortune into football via coaches, NIL and burger kings buyout.
will we continue to let the BB team suffer due to woodwards screwup? only time will tell. i do not see how we can sit back and watch this crash and burn when it is the only program that makes a profit(albeit small) other than football.

You were just praising Verge for hiring Lane, now this. I can't stand people like you. And btw dumb arse it's ERA not Error.

How much did you contribute to the BK buyout, Sylvia????
Posted on 3/10/26 at 8:18 am to Fat Bastard
The profit would QUADRUPLE with the hiring of a good coach. ESPECIALLY if it's Wade.

True. But those expenses aren't going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, they are only likely to INCREASE with coaching salary and NIL inflation.
LSU is going to have a men's basketball program next season. That means they are going to have to have a staff to coach it and players to play...so you may as well try to perform as well as reasonably possible. That is NOT going to happen with McMahon as the HC, and kicking the can down the road another year doesn't change anything because the football expenses will still be there next year. Unless LSU plans on riding out McMahon for the next 3 years, with minimal staff and an extremely low NIL commitment, then it doesn't make much financial sense to push this off another year.
Again, I think what is happening is a football mindset is being misapplied to basketball. That is the ONLY way to fix this mess is to hire a big time, expensive, proven power-conf. coach like LSU just did in football (and did with Mulkey). History has shown over and over that is NOT the requirement in men's basketball. If LSU doesn't hire Wade, then LSU can still hire a good mid-major coach at a reasonable price, with little to no buyout owed to that coaches' current school, and quickly have success if that coach is the right guy. Just because you missed with McMahon doesn't mean the next HC can't be the next Golden, Oats, McCasland, Byington, Odom, Kelsey, May, etc, etc. Even if you hire a new mid-major HC and give him the exact same NIL amount you gave McMahon this season it is HIGHLY likely the results would be a great improvement. That is because far too many have spent the last 4 years trying to identify every potential reason as to why LSU has been so bad...while ignoring the actual and obvious reason staring them in the face with his arms crossed.
This program goes nowhere until there is a HC change.
