My second favorite detective show of all time behind The Wire, which makes sense because Eric Overmyer made both of them.

It's like a less dynamic version of The Wire if The Wire was present-day L.A. Noir.

Highly recommended.

I find it interesting that the wife and I loved Bosch but could not finish season 1 of The Wire.

That’s odd. The Wire was a great series…

My only gripe with Bosch is that everytime Bosch or one of the other detectives show up unannounced at at somebody's front door for an interview, the person they're looking for just happens to be home 100 percent of the time lol.

Bosch is a much more paint by numbers detective series. Still does a good job adding some twists and making the characters enjoyable but there’s a formula being followed.

The Wire is sort of about catching the criminals but it’s much moreso about the cops and criminals and politicians and average residents of Baltimore as people. It’s an incredible feat of TV but it can also be pretty tedious if you’re just wanting something you can lose yourself in for an hour or so.

I love both shows, they’re just different with different strengths.

I really enjoyed Bosch, especially the earlier seasons that prominently featured lance reddick.

Great show. Finally a cop show where people actually die.

The daughter is annoying. Weighs a buck o five and somehow she becomes a badass.

Writer/Producer are the same but the source material is very different. If you ever get a chance pick up Homicide: A year on the killing streets by David Simon and you will see the point of view and style are very different from any of the Bosch novels Connely authored. Homicide, which is the basis for The Wire, is much more real/gritty and as someone said, focuses on the cops, politicians and criminals and how they operate and less on actually solving crimes like the Bosch novels.

Sucks we'll never get a Bosch/Lincoln Lawyer crossover as both Bosch and Haller are half brothers and are in each others books from time to time.

I tried watching it three different times and couldn't get into it either.
