BREAKING! Kansas City International Airport Evacuated After Possible Threat, FBI Investigating

Passengers at Kansas City International Airport were evacuated Sunday after officials received a possible threat that prompted authorities to clear portions of the terminal and ground flights.

Airport officials said the incident was reported around 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, triggering an immediate response from Airport Police and federal authorities.

The Kansas City Aviation Department confirmed the evacuation, stating that the move was made out of an abundance of caution while investigators determine whether the threat is credible.

“As a precaution, the department has evacuated sections of the Airport Terminal,” an Aviation Department spokesperson said. “Airport Police are working with the FBI to substantiate any potential threat.”

The FBI also confirmed it is assisting with the investigation.

“The FBI is aware of the incident and our personnel are working with city and airport partners to determine the credibility of the threat,” an FBI spokesperson said.

As authorities continue assessing the situation, all flights arriving to and departing from the airport have been grounded, and traffic in the surrounding area has been diverted away from the airport.

Photos shared by witnesses show passengers being escorted off planes onto the tarmac while others were seen leaving the terminal building as part of the evacuation.

Officials are urging anyone planning to travel through Kansas City International Airport to avoid the area until further notice while the investigation continues.

No additional details about the nature of the potential threat have been released at this time.

Never understood why we should take this seriously

Why would you announce you are going to bomb something? You would just do it

In today’s environment, this is the new norm, just be sure to add flight insurance to your travel budget.

Someone online said someone left an unattended bag. For whatever that account is worth.

Someone left a bunch of bombs around Kansas City this week so they might be on edge.

Google AI:

Terrorist organizations have, at times, provided warnings before bombing campaigns to maximize economic disruption and political impact while minimizing immediate civilian casualties. This strategy is often used to avoid a public backlash that might undermine their political goals, focusing instead on damaging property or infrastructure.

It took me one second to come to liability. Imagine getting a tip and not doing anything.

An update on the earlier threat at Kansas City International Airport:

@FBI and our law enforcement partners quickly responded to the scene and secured the area. The threat was reviewed and determined not to be credible. Terminal has been swept, cleared, and normal operations resumed.

Thank you to our federal partners at @USDOT and @SecDuffy for the coordination and quick response.

Threats like these are a federal crime. FBI and law enforcement partners will fully investigate and bring to justice anyone responsible.
