I have been doing some research on shallowing

And everyone always says to just let the arms drop from the top without turning shoulders. I think I may have finally realized what they meant. Do you almost just not even try to turn the shoulders? The momentum of the club dropping pulls your shoulders around?

Keep back to target a tad longer. Left shoulder down towards ball then explode into left hip by whipping the hip back and straightening left leg.

You are creating a lot of lag and making a far more consistent swing doing this - it’s not based on timing but on far fewer checkpoints - hard to get down but once you do a far more consistent swing

But am I right in my "discovery"? You don't actually actively try to turn your shoulders. It's a result of something else.

OP, I think this might help me too.
I haven’t thought of it that way before and have struggled to figure out what it’s supposed to feel like. Hell, even look like.

Get ready for some wicked duck hooks.

Tbh my best golf comes when I focus on making a good backswing and am thought free on the downswing. Back to target as long as possible is a great feel to help maximize driver. Iron feel is more figure out the length of backswing. Dont drop chest or knees in down swing. Don't move your hips and arse towards the ball, if anything work them away from the ball. And just have smooth tempo. You aren't necessarily trying to maximize distance on irons like you are on a driver or 3 wood.
Shallowing is largely overrated. Some of the best players in the world are the opposite of shallow. You need to swing the club how your body naturally wants to swing the club and set up your own checkpoints around your natural swing. Unless you are trying to compete on the tour, you'd be surprised on how much changing feet setup, club setup, ball position can improve your game without ever making wholesale changes to your swing.

“Don’t” is a word I “don’t” want near my mind as I prepare to swing a golf club.
For whatever reason, it seems if I think “don’t” that my mind/body will do that. I do better with “target”/go.
Everyone is different.
Whatever works for the golfer.

I'm no golf coach but that sounds like a shitload of bad advice. Not to mention 10 more swing thoughts that can only make things worse. But what do I know. I have one swing thought with the driver...hit it to right field...and one with irons...compress it.

None of these are actual current swing thoughts for me. They were implemented 1 by 1 and aren't a thought anymore. My only swing thought is finishing the back swing for driver and length of backswing for irons. I was just giving basic advice to a dude asking about shallowing. I was just sharing my standpoint, that you can make simple little changes vs hopping on a tired trend and overly changing swing/club path.
