My dad had replaced a shower head with a long hose on it years ago and forgot it was in his truck bed.
Same thing, the car wash brush got it and beat his new truck up, plus scared the poop out of him.

I used to run a stand alone car wash. Ole boys would drive in with extended cab dually with a four prong extended hitch on the back. Spinning wands would rip right off the control arm.

If someone is there looking in the bed is one of the most obvious and basic things they do
The problem is many of them are unattended with which the labor pool and cost of said generally shitty labor I don't blame them but leads to issues like this
