How the hell can anyone want to live in any urban area of LA but this NW city seems to take the cake. The whole Shreveport/Bossier metro is based upon escaping the crime and poverty while remaining close enough to a real grocery store to avoid being entirely rural

Why is dossier pronounced doss-ee-ay but Bossier is bo-zure instead of boss-ee-ay

Yeah that's those are the only two cities in the state where that is happening

It’s really not part of Louisiana. It’s like a step or something.

North and south Bossier are fine. Parts of Shreveport aren’t bad: Broadmoor, Southern Loop area, much of the LSUS area, part of the Cross Lake area.

I live in southeast Shreveport. I don’t have a house alarm and can leave things in my front yard without fear of it being stolen.

Some nice areas in the city but definitely more rare than they used to be. Same goes for BR, but in BR I absolutely see a ton more re-investment and re-development taking place than up in Shreveport.

Same. I live near LSUS and don’t really worry about crime in my area. Now, downtown Shreveport or north Shreveport in the area between I-20 and I-220 is a whole different story.

That’s silly. Barksdale Air Force Base? Five casinos. BPCC, Centenary College, LSUS, Southern Univ - Shreveport, NSU Nursing School. Just off the top of my head.

My biggest complaints about Shreveport extend to the rest of the state, urban or rural. The streets and roads are in horrible condition and strewn with garbage and blown out tires.

I’ve taken a couple of two week vacations in recent years where we drove through multiple states, many of them also poor, southern states, but nowhere compared to the garbage-dump appearance and condition of Louisiana roads.

Many intersections are full of broken glass and other debris from wrecks or just people dumping trash. It sits there for months with never a street sweeper in sight.

When I travel, I often see a city worker on an ATV with a broom, limb loppers, trash bags, etc. making sure things are relatively clean. I’ve never seen that in Shreveport or any other Louisiana city. It’s like government officials and citizens are just blind to the trashiness that surrounds them, so they do nothing about it.
