I think a 5 year term limit on contracts would do a lot more to reduce long term expenses for athletic departments than a salary cap.

I really like Rubio. Did from the start although he had a small learning curve when listening to ‘advisors’.

Doubt it. Saban was a Hillary donor.

I agree but go 4 because if you’re good enough to demand top money, you’re probably not going to be wherever for that long.
Go Pro early
Not reach potential so saves team $
Player X thinks he’s better than is and wants to bolt

Arkansas did it first, OM is just trying to keep a level playing field.

Also, just generally, sure you can have a salary cap (there currently basically is with the new Rev Share situation). But you can't limit NIL - it would be like telling the Patriots that's they can't keep Brady because his advertising revenue sent the Patriots over the Salary Cap ...

Wasn't Paul complaining on his show about not being invited?

My bad. I thought we were talking about coaching salary caps. Coaches contracts should be limited to 5 years so that schools aren't dumb enough to commit to $50mm buyouts.

Everyone wants it. The problem is organizing the CBA. You cant just executive order a salary cap without it getting ruled illegal like emergency tariffs.

And you can't limit what an individual player can make on his own NIL. With a CBA you can limit what schools can pay players, but you'll still have mega boosters giving kids money for advertising/marketing.

Trump seems deadset on going back to how things were pre-NIL aka scholarships only and potentially a salary of $50-100k/player
