Two people were arrested, including a parolee with a criminal record that includes 131 prior arrests, for setting a homeless man on fire as he slept at Penn Station, police said Wednesday.
Damon Johnson, 47, was arrested Tuesday by officers with the Amtrak Police Department and charged with attempted murder and assault for the attack on Monday that left a 37-year-old man with second-degree burns on his arm and back, according to law enforcement. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court the following day, where he was ordered held without bail.

Johnson is currently on parole for a 2018 robbery, in which he slashed a student’s face before taking cash from his pockets, according to Mullan, who said the victim required more than 100 stitches.
Beginning in 1995 with an assault charge in the Bronx, Johnson’s criminal record includes 131 prior arrests, cops said.
Before Tuesday, Johnson was most recently cuffed for an assault on Sept. 9, 2024, in which he punched and slapped a 56-year-old woman in the face during an argument on E. Tremont Ave. and Grand Concourse in the Morris Heights section of the Bronx.
Johnson faces a mandatory minimum of 20 years to life for the attempted murder at Penn Station due to his status as a persistent violent felon, Mullan said.

Wish we could round up the .00001% criminals committing 90% of the crime.
Send them to Bukele in El Salvador for “refinement.”
Can’t believe our judicial system keeps subjecting the population to these killers, thieves and rapists. Its as if they want the chaos.

WTF will it take to keep these animals in prison? Dude has 131 arrests and was on parole. Why wasn't he charged/found guilty of attempted murder when he slashed a student's face requiring 100 stitches? Instead now he commits another violent act setting the guy on fire. Da*m we need to build more prisons or start putting these animals down.

What do you call someone in NYC with a 131 arrests?
A Yankees season ticket holder

This is what happens when you either have liberal white women or black judges who give lighter sentences to criminals because of their skin color. This has been going on all across the country and Matt Walsh seems to be the only one talking about it.

At some point, if this type of thing gets worse, people will have to start killing judges to keep us safe

It will and they will. Voting can’t fix it because voting is the problem.

His lawyer probably deserves an award for keeping him out of prison so long!

Yeah, it isn't like your voting for Democrats didn't help this either.
You got a lot to be proud of. Another win for team blue and protecting your precious violent foot soldiers.

Do you have family? Would you want that lawyer in your town keeping these psychos on the streets?
