This appears to be more than “just baseball.” I’ve played beer league softball with dudes who put forth more effort than this. Team looks rudderless, problem is internal. The fix for whatever is going on has to come from within the locker room

This post is made at least once a year every year. Maybe it will be right this time.

Dar Dar is the only guy I've noticed to play with some juice and an edge. I think he'll be fine and is a good hitter, but it's hard to lead the team when you're struggling.

I don’t think many rational fans said that in 23 and 25 though I’m sure some posted about it anyway.

Lots of people saw it in 2024 and sure looks like a concern this season.

It’s very apparent this team doesn’t have a leader or a captain

Theres not an emotional leader on this offense like we had with Jones and Dickinson, or Crews/white/jobert/travinski. Too may guys who are robotic

The 24 team was very young and it was mostly the young guys who ended up carrying the load.

This team has a lot more experience. Hopefully that will show up soon.

It’s almost like replacing talent that wins a title is hard.

The want to and sense of urgency from a defending champion team is always suspect. This teams needs to be embarrassed in games that count and then you’ll see what they’re made of . I have some doubts it’ll be anything that resembles last year.

These threads are so stupid. You want the team to be fired up and jacked up but to be frank, they're just not making anything happen on the field to get excited about

When this team goes on a run, and they will, they’ll have something to be fired up about and these threads (which happen every single time there’s a cold streak) will look just as stupid as they always do

A lot of these same posters were bitching about the players being too fired up when they were winning.

This is a long winded way of saying people say it every year, and despite that, we've won titles in 2 of the 3 years they said it.

'24 we simply had too much talent to replace. That was glaringly obvious. I think it was

SP1
SP2
Bullpen WHIP 1
Bullpen WHIP 4
Bullpen WHIP 5
Bullpen WHIP 6

1B
2B
SS
CF
RF
DH

Combined with Neal/Kling just not progressing at all when they were supposed to be cornerstones.

This team doesn't have those problems. It has more talent than the '24 team by a pretty large margin. I mean we're still playing like 14 position players per game. It's far too early to try and pin any wins or losses on leadership or "grittiness" or "toughness" or anything like that.

It's a team that's simply trying to establish its' identify before conference play. They will continue trying to do that until mid April.
