For traveling .. the topic involved either Europe in general or Italy specifically. I can’t locate it now. Thought I had bookmarked it but I did not.
It was a travel size fan of some sort that the poster said that they don’t travel without.
Anyone here have a rec??

Thanks a bunch. Hôtel has ac but someone here said some won’t let you adjust it past 74 or 76. That won’t work for this southern girl.

Also, depending on time of year, they might not even the A/C on. We were in Paris in early October and found our room warm and stuffy. Tried to turn A/C on and it didn't work. Asked front desk and they said they had the entire A/C system shut off at that time of year.

It should be here tomorrow and I'll report back. My wife has the corded version and that tiny thing moves some air.

This is a thing, but not in at least Marriott brands. I had this happen at the Mercur hotel I stayed at near the Colosseum, which only served to reinforce my Marriott brand or bust stance. The Mercur told me to open my windows (directly above the dumpster on the 3rd floor) and gave e a fan that was so ineffective I laid on top of the the sheets for weeks.

Thanks all .. this will be in July. It’s them my time my daughter can leave for a 10 day stretch.
Hotel has ac but the comments about no real adjustment ability make me nervous.

Brands that Americans stay in (Marriott, etc.) are going to be less tolerant of "green" initiatives like limiting AC use, unless they're required to by law. In reality, if you need a fan to sleep, it's going to have to be a box fan or something that you can't travel with.
You can order stuff from Amazon.co.uk and have it delivered to your hotel. I did it in Brussels for a number of shipments. Try to schedule the delivery the day before you check in, and send the hotel an email a day or two before hand warning them.
ETA: You can keep the AC on when you leave the room by tearing off a part of the cardboard they give you your key in and shoving it in the "energy saving" occupancy card that they want you to put your key in."

I just pulled the trigger on this one for our Europe trip this summer
Well it arrived and is much larger than the corded version my wife has. It would work if you were traveling by car but its too big for plane travel.
