Some of you were talking about Mini Splits. I finally got mine installed today.

The unit I went with was a Daikin 18,000btu Seer 2 1.5 ton unit. It also does heat. I have 500sqft in my garage and I have the garage door insulated as well as the ceiling insulated with R13 blown insulation.

Unit is very quiet and cooled my garage down very fast today. I had the door open all day with them here installing it and it got up to 84 inside my garage. Its been running a couple hours and its a nice 74 in here right now and it got there fast. Humidity went down to 43% which is something I need for my business I do in my garage.

Anyway, glad I got it done and just in time. Its getting hot in south Florida and I am getting busy. Nice not to burn up in here. The outside unit was nice and small and the inside unit is very quiet.

Before I put my cabinets back in front of it.

What did you use to insulate the garage doors?

Did you end up installing it yourself or hire it out ? Looks great

I bought the Owens Corning 1" thick sheets from home depot. I cut them with a box knife and a straight edge. Bent them slightly while somewhat forcing them into the groves in my door. There are a bunch of videos on Youtube showing how to do it and some helpful tips. I used 4 sheets at around $30 a sheet. It honestly was not hard, just had to do a couple of them before I got the hang of it. Just a tip, make sure to measure every single square before you cut the next one. Mine were all slightly different and getting it scored and cut to the exact size was critical.

Looks like my unit. Did you get the Daiken App to run it or are you using the remote? I've not been able to get the app to work. It's as if I need an additional module for the app to work.

I am using the remote. I am not sure if it works with the app or not.

You can't walk into Walmart, buy a min-split, and install it yourself in minutes.
