I love Grace Knox!

I love the fire and aggressiveness she brings. Backs down to no one- which is exactly what this team needs- even if she is a freshman.

Her aggressive foul on Cotie McMahon was the turning point against Ole Miss. LSU was down something like 9 points or so, and Ole Miss had all of the momentum. But after that foul McMahon scored only two FT the rest of the game and LSU really kicked it in gear. Knox's foul was one of those badass statements of "no you don't, not against my team, not any more".

If you've ever seen the great 30-for-30 of "Lakers vs. Celtics: The Best of Enemies", Knox's play was just like Kevin McHale decking Kurt Rambis on a fast break which started a brawl late in the 3rd quarter with the Celtics down 20 on the road at the Forum and staring elimination right in the face in the 1983 finals. That foul galvanized the Celtics, and they went on to stage an amazing comeback right after that to win the game and stave off elimination when James Worthy "choked" on the free throw line after Cornbread Maxwell crossed right in front of him through the lane holding his neck with the "choke" gesture.

That play was the turning point in the series as the Celtics went back to the Garden to sweep the Lakers to win the NBA title. Larry Bird, etc. all pointed to that aggressive foul by McHale as the play which turned the series around.

In the same way Knox galvanized the Lady Tigers. I'm not condoning her taunting which drew the technical and could have cost LSU the game- I thought that part was stupid- but her aggressiveness at that point was a psychological lift for the Lady Tigers. It's what they needed at the time. When it's all said and done, we might look back on that moment as a critical win for LSU.
