I know they came when we had lax immigration rules but most of the big money crimes in New Orleans can be traced back to the Sicilian families that have somehow gone under the radar. When we think of the mob we think NY and NJ but a lot of the shady stuff happens down south.

The thought the Marcello New Orleans crime mob was pretty well known.

Don't be hating on my kind bro. Sicilains had honor and would never harm women and children. They at least tried to maintain some type of order in New Orleans. It’s when they lost control that it all went the crap.

My friend who retired from nopd said they knew most of the Italian restaurants were fronts for money laundering but they were untouchable as they were protected by powerful people.

The Italian mafia at least had the decency to have a code of conduct and do a pretty good job of holding each other to it.

But they empower the local gangs who have no code or honor so I think they are indirectly responsible for the shithole NOla has become

I think you should be the first one to tell them to go, just let me know where and when you are starting because I want to watch

The Italian mafia in SE LA also hated Leander Perez, so that makes them my ally.

I'm Sicilian on my father's side. Just hard working, play by the rules people. Devout Catholics

We asked for immigration from Europe. Almost as many who arrived were sent back as were allowed to stay.
How old are you? Do they still teach history in school?

100%.
I miss the days when the mafia controlled the quarter, because it was SAFE.

Back in the early 1900s I would’ve probably agreed with you. There were major riots about it at the time actually if you care to look into it.
However since it’s 2026 were probably better served focusing on the illegals who’ve disrupted entire states and the crime that’s endemic for native born communities across the south the vast majority of which has absolutely nothing to do with Sicilians or Italian mob crime.
Now if you’d like to have a real statistics driven conversation about which communities are driving crime im more than willing but you might not like where the data takes us.

I never said it was a moral code of conduct, but at least the victims aren't usually random.

Since your eyes must not work properly, I will give you a hint. The overwhelming majority of crime and violence in New Orleans isn't Sicilian people
