Only problem - I have no local team
I guess this will be like NFL where I am following players rather than teams.

It definitely will give the sport a bump!

Well if you're in the south you have a couple of choices.
Dallas
Nashville
Tampa Bay
Hurricanes
Panthers (they are going for three cups in a row)
Helly plays for a canadian team so wouldn't recommend them.

I would kill for Houston to have a team

Nashville has been the team I have watched. Unable to get to a predator game yet

Just pay attention. You will gravitate to a team.
In the early 90s when the Braves were winning divisions but not championships with excellent pitching, I gravitated to the Devils. Conference championships with elite goaltending, but struggled to push through.
Plus, Sega EA Sports hockey found New Jersey as my team of choice.
When my son gravitated to the Devils on his own, needless to say we are a Hughes family right now.

Avs vs Red Wings was legendary.
I loved to hate Lemiuex, so I was rooting against you at the time.

I defaulted to the Ducks for this reason. Grew up on the movies so it just seemed right. Can't complain. Paul Kariya, J.S. Giguere, the Nedermeyer Bros., Teemu Selanne, Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, Chris Pronger, a Stanley Cup. It's not a bad time.

I lived in Denver during that time period….those names bring back some memories!

I don't know about other teams but you can watch almost all of the Dallas Stars games for free on Victory + app. They changed this a couple of years ago and I've been able to watch way more hockey. Bally sports use to cuck all anyone who lived in DFW with a black out or made you pay 15 bucks a month to grab limited hockey games and some Ranger games.

good to know. I assume Youtube TV may have a specific package

I think Hulu has a ton of hockey programming. I get it free with my cell phone package.

If you have espn+ you already get almost every game of every team. The only ones you won’t get on there are your local team (blackout), national games or the few random games on NHL network.
You can also pick if you want to watch the home or away team broadcast. It’s great.
Edit: I see the post above mine. I have Hulu live, you can watch them on there to if you want. Hulu live includes eapn+. I prefer using the ESPN app. You can also do the multi-game view which I don’t think you can on the Hulu app.

Follow players and watch games, it will come in time.
I grew up in South FL so its was always the Panthers for me. Father is a Habs fan from before we had the Cats.

I won’t be a regular fan until Houston gets a team

NHL is going to get a boost after this. Across the board a bunch of guys who love their country, which can’t be said for a lot of sports leagues in America.

It will be interesting to see if there is a resurgence of minor league hockey like there was after USA won gold before. There used to be several clubs in every state.
