traffic stop.

These guys were serving a felony warrant to an illegal and the chief wants to fire them for calling ICE? That may be one of the crazier stories I have read in a while.

quote:

Bettison said that a police officer was investigating an individual on a felony warrant at a location on the west side. The officer, according to Bettison, believed the individual was not a U.S. citizen and contacted Border Patrol. Border Patrol responded and took the individual.

The firing will go before a board but the police chief says he will make the final determination.

quote:

Woods says any decision to fire these officers will come from Bettison after the board makes its decision.

Law enforcement cooperating with law enforcement is now a fireable offense?

I can’t wait for Powerbottom to explain how this is the proper way to handle things.

Yeah, I would think they could sue for wrongful termination over that.

Hire them at the Fed level at ICE, ATF, etc.

And pay for their lawsuit against Detroit.

State agencies agree to work as commissioned ICE officers | News | oudaily.com
Feb 17, 2026

Sgt. Christian Walsh of Barnsdall said he was as surprised as anyone when he arrested a member of a drug cartel.

That’s also when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement noticed Walsh, he said.

“When they fingerprinted him, it hit in the federal system that he was wanted for violations,” Walsh said. “So they actually tried to place a hold on him. He accidentally got released before they came and got him. Well, the agent talked to me, explained to me the task force model and everything. I just presented it and (the town) approved it. I think they’re okay with it ’cause they’re just looking for more help, more coverage.”

Under a 287(g) agreement, Walsh is now deputized to act as a federal ICE agent, part of a vast and growing federalized network forming on the orders of the White House, Homeland Security, and the Justice Department.

ICE’s plans got a major boost from the state of Oklahoma last year when Gov. Kevin Stitt announced “Operation Guardian,” which deputized members of the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, and the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety to carry out immigration enforcement on behalf of ICE. In all, more than 30 Oklahoma departments or agencies have signed 287(g) agreements with ICE, including many small town police departments such as Barnsdall. Three have signed on in February so far.

quote:

“ICE will fully reimburse participating agencies for the annual salary and benefits of each eligible trained 287(g) officer, including overtime coverage up to 25% of the officer’s annual salary.” ICE also offers quarterly monetary performance awards based on the successful location of undocumented immigrants identified by ICE and overall assistance to further ICE’s mission, up to $1,000 per officer. “They have a contract with our town,” Alexander said. “They pay us, you know, for our time, wherever the hours are. It ain’t like a bounty.”

I'd like to welcome these two officers with a stipend to move to one of many beautiful suburbs of Birmingham, AL... where they will be welcomed with open arms, free from PTS of a sh!thole, warzone city like Detroit.

PS - Warmer climate as well.

A southern state needs to offer them good jobs and cover the moving expenses.

Make a spectacle about it.
