Navy Seal Training Exercise in Mexico

Mexican government has requested help from US military to train Mexican military during "exercises".
While this is described as a training exercise, it's a sharp turn from President Shaunbaum previous attitude about US military in Mexico. It's an step up the escalation ladder towards joint military operations against the cartels. IMHO

Tell me about Navy Seals training exercise in Mexico
The most recent and prominent Navy SEALs training exercise in Mexico involves a joint program that began on February 15, 2026, and is scheduled to run through April 16, 2026.Mexico's Senate unanimously approved (with 105 votes in favor, 0 against, and 1 abstention) the temporary entry of 19 members of U.S. Navy SEAL Team 2 into the country. This was at the invitation of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, aimed at enhancing Mexico's capabilities to combat drug cartel violence through better-trained special forces. The exercise, officially titled “Enhancing Special Operations Forces Capability” (or "Mejorar la Capacidad de las Fuerzas de Operaciones Especiales" in Spanish), focuses on:Strengthening individual and collective tactical skills.
Improving operational compatibility and interoperability between U.S. Navy SEALs and Mexico's Naval Special Operations Unit (under SEMAR, the Mexican Navy/Secretaría de Marina).
Areas like infiltration techniques, surveillance/reconnaissance in hostile environments, urban combat skills, convoy tactics, precision shooting, sniper procedures, maritime infiltration, coastal raids, and tactical combat casualty care.
It takes place at Mexican naval facilities in the state of Campeche, specifically:The Marine Infantry Specialized Training Center (CENCAEIM) in San Luis Carpizo (also referred to as Luis Carpizo).
The Naval Sector in Ciudad del Carmen.
The SEALs arrived via a U.S. Air Force C-130 Hercules transport plane, and they are authorized to bring full armament and equipment for the training (but this is strictly a training mission, not combat operations or direct action against cartels). This is framed as bilateral cooperation to build Mexico's capacity against organized crime, with supporters noting it aligns with U.S. pressure (including from the Trump administration) for stronger action on drug trafficking. Critics, including some leftist outlets, have raised concerns about sovereignty and historical U.S. interventionism in Mexico.Note that this is not the U.S. SEALs conducting independent operations or "hunting cartels" inside Mexico—reliable reporting emphasizes it's a controlled, time-limited training exchange. Similar joint trainings have occurred before, such as U.S. Green Berets (7th Special Forces Group) training Mexican marines in Campeche in early 2025

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is a communist. Her family is generationally communist. Does the US Military train with Chinese communists?
Sheinbaum sees what is going on in Latin America. The communist leaders will all be gone soon. Why is the hell would the US Military, at any level, train Mexican soldiers who are under th control of a communist led government?

You answered your question, possibly.

So we are training Cartel soldiers in SEAL ways?

Mexico needs to do what El Salvador did. Except execute them. Libs cry about human rights with these animals but support killing babies in the womb. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Why give them human rights when they don’t respect other people’s human rights with murder and violence?
So many people have died fighting wars, going after criminals, car wreck, and overdoses. What’s the point of keeping these people around? You flush shite down the toilet.

There's probably alot going on behind the scenes between Mexico and US leadership. It's possible Shaunbaum is trying to find a way to combat the cartels without publicly making it obvious, for reasons of self preservation.
This is about more than training Mexican military....
IMHO

I have been saying this for a long time. Sheinbaum may be saying one thing publicly but probably but welcomes it privately and there is a LOT of cooperation behind the scenes.
Too lazy to try and find it but there was an article recently that Sheinbaum and the Mexican government quietly turned over 50 cartel figures held by the Mexicans to US custody. There are leadership guys the US has wanted for a long time but the government wouldn't turn them over. Mexico is quietly handing these guys over to the US and there is much more cooperation between the US and Mexico now under Trump.

Because we have a mutual enemy, the cartels. It has to be "training" so she isn't assassinated. Use your head.
People like you hurt my brain. Its progress! And its not some communist country like others. Its Mexico and we share borders. We are in NO danger of war w Mexico. We are at war with cartels. Them having better seal type teams is an absolute home run for us. Less we have to risk. Let them use theirs against cartels

The Mexican Army had a unit at JRTC and Fort Polk taking part in training the end of last year.
It happens more frequently with other counties than you would think.
But I do get your point.

I've read the same.

I did not realize you were a communist. Why is the shared border an exception for you regarding specialized training to communists? How moronic is your thinking? Communist will certainly export that training where needed.
Progress is a favorite communist term.

No clown..we are training them to attack cartels in their own country SO WE DONT HAVE TO!
You act like we are giving them a naval fleet. Mexico is not N Korea

So we are going to let a communist run country "manage" their cartels, which are bent on destroying America with drugs/
Gotcha!!

I wouldn’t train anyone to do anything down there with her at the helm.
There’s a real chance our SF could be fighting anyone we train so long as she remains in power.
Shes:
-communist
-globalist
-deep ties to the cartels
-intrinsically opposed to our foreign policy there
“Claudia Sheinbaum is a member of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), which has socialist roots, and her political background includes connections to leftist movements.”

What makes you think that their current president has any intent to “attack” cartels in Mexico?
She’s a globalist who hates Trump, a communist who hates populism and has deep ties to the cartels to remain in power.
Even MSN thinks she and her party are part of the narcostate in Mexico:
MSN: Shinebaum Unlikely to take on Cartels

You have that in quotes. Why? Where did I say that?
I said ATTACK
And yes, its better to train them and let them attack.
This may shock a complete moron like yourself, but we can't invade Mexico and attack cartels without huge issues. Go ahead and educate yourself...moron

Just because the article says that are you sure that’s what they are doing?
Always more to the story. They have to report a reason why Seals are on the ground. Typically high level training is carried out by Army and Green Berets. Not Seals.
