Their last day serving is Wednesday, 18, 2026. Been going there since they opened their doors and although not as often, now days, we would still hit it up when in that part of town. Hate to see it. :(

That is legitimately depressing. Many a good time was had at Mariner's.

what? No….
I thought the Brady’s people bought it?
easily the place we’ve eaten the most. Always good. This is terrible news

Mariner’s Inn
Arguably the best hamburger in the state of Louisiana especially in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

Apparently, they’re gonna have an estate sale, next Thursday through Saturday, to sale off the interior stuff/ decor items. Don’t think that includes the kitchen/ bar equipment, just the stuff off of the walls and ceiling.

well shite
I guess the family owns the building but I can’t imagine they couldn’t find a buyer for the business. Like I said the word was that Brady’s bought it after the father died but I guess not. This is a real bummer. I’m out of town till 2/23 so I guess I’m not getting one more pork chop…

Damn How long has that place been open?

Since 1982, I think. I know it was open then. Could have opened in ‘81 but I don’t think so.

I use go get burgers there around the 2009-2012 time. They were good.
Had roaches walking across the bar though. Quit going after I noticed that.

Huge part of Downtown Hammond for decades.
Sad to see it go
Had some good times there in college
Saw some pretty good bands
It had a great Run!!

Sad day...many a good times there. I worked in the kitchen and behind bar for the original owner Dennis Downey. Early 80's. In fact, I trained the subsequent owner, Bruce Labreque how to make burgers and the sauteed mushrooms, etc years before he bought the place.
Early in the Mariners days, the crew for the Port of Call would come to Hammond to play the Mariners crew and friends in a softball and drinking/partying extravaganza. Dennis Downey worked at POC prior to opening Mariners.
Great memories.

I think Bruce took it over in ‘82, so it must’ve opened before then.

I ate quite a few burgers and kickin chicken sandwiches there in the mid 90’s.

The incompetence that's run that place (they know who we're talking about) since Bruce died is astounding.
That place should be printing money.

I would say that’s a fair comment. I have no idea who decided to move the pool tables into the front dining room but that was a terrible decision. Mariners was always similar to Tommy’s though where the inmates ran the asylum which was either a deal killer or part of the charm, depending on how you are wired.
One of my friends worked on the hot line for a few months after the owner died he said it was a shitshow but the food was great as always. This is a very sad development for the Hammond community

The crab and artichoke being taken off the menu sucks. Kickin chicken was legit. Can’t say I ever remember it being packed on normal nights, but it was never empty. Rough loss.

There was some drama after Bruce died with one of the long time managers/servers and Bruce's kid who took it over. It played it over Facebook for a few weeks.
Anyway, it's been mismanaged since Bruce died and never really recovered. It was a staple for me and the wife. We had our spot at a two top against the wall.
I'm sure Saul will buy it and turn it into a mediocre "high end" restaurant.

Sad to see. It was a staple for years for us. Tons of good times at mariners. Once Bruce died it never felt the same and it’s been over a year since we’ve been. Drove by and saw pool tables in the front and thought that was an odd move.

The Alacks bought it months ago and have already sold it to someone else.
Wouldn't be surprised to see another Rubio business pop up in that location.
