I’ve tried looking at the assessors site in the parish where property is .. I’ve looked on Zillow which maybe isn’t accurate anyway .. but I can’t find sale price.

Thanks for any suggestions.

The act of sale in the conveyance records will often list the sale price, but sometimes it may just say something like “$10 and other valuable consideration”. If there was a mortgage, its amount may also give some information.

The conveyance and mortgage records are in the office of the clerk of court. Online access likely requires a paid account, but you can walk in and look it up for free. You’ll need to know the name of the buyer or seller. Clerk will probably help you find it if you have the required info. If you want copies, you’ll pay for that.

It doesn’t show sales price in 2004. Shows everything since then.

All I see is how to search who owns and what the taxes were back to 2014.

I’ll look again!

Georgia has a site called qpublic which hosts the tax assessor data (Schneider is the parent company of qpublic)

Google search the county name and qpublic and it would take you to the site (im guessing parish would be the equivalent of a georgia county)

You can call the assessor's office and they will tell you.

Sometimes it takes a few weeks/month to get current.

Just looked up my childhood home to see if my parents' purchase/sale are visible and it doesnt go that far back on the tax assessor site under deed transfers for the property. However, the extended legal description section has the deed transfer and a conveyance book volume and page. That should be where the deed and transaction are legally recorded if I wanted to go dig up.

The real way to do it is to look up the sale in the conveyance records of the courthouse. Anything else you try to rely on would only be accurate if they looked it up properly in that way.

Not always accurate. I’ve seen sales omitted from listings even though they are recorded.

If it’s in Louisiana, the price is shown in the Deed.

This is for EBR. Look for transfers.
Not sure if you aren't in EBR...

A few years back I was having to do some research on family property and I was able to go back to where my great-grandfather had been buying property at the turn of the 20th century. This was in a rural parish at the tax assessor's office (and in the massive ledgers they use).

So it seems the parish of interest doesn’t list deed transfers in the online info. I checked my parish with my address and deed info is certainly there.

Anyway now I know where to look. Thanks y’all.
