Sucks for Detroit football fans but trimming the fat on the bowls has been long overdue. I expect the New Orleans Bowl to fold soon as well since there wasn’t a sponsor this year. Birmingham Bowl too since they had trouble even finding teams to play.

Didn't realize the L.A. Bowl folded

Thought the Bahamas Bowl stadium was being renovated ; so they took the year off?

The Snoop dog Arizona bowl should be next on the chopping block.
CW does the telecast and "time slot" competed w too many other Bowl games that were better.

Yeah. I won't complain about having ANY football on TV after the regular season is over, but I doubt many people will complain if some of those weekday morning timeslots featuring sub .500 teams go away.

No more Auburn in the Birmingham Bowl would be nice.

No idea how the Independence Bowl continues to take place every year.

They only spend about $350 hosting it.

Suprised by this one. Always seems decently attended with close by teams

FYI, The Motor City Bowl and the Pizza Bowl was not the same as the Quick Lane Bowl and Game Above Bowl. The Lions wanted to host their own bowl game so they created the Quick Lane Bowl with Ford as a sponsor and the Motor City and Pizza Bowl went away.

I dunno - I liked seeing them play 20 miles from home on the cheap - but the inverse of that was that we sucked enough to get that one.

This. The Motor City Bowl has technically been gone for over a decade already.

It's sort of too bad because the original game became the de facto reward for the MAC Champion to play a major conference team when the MAC didn't have a ton of bowl tie-ins.

When the Quick Lane Bowl replaced it, they basically took whatever middling team they wanted, and the matchups weren't as fun.

Why? I'll never understand why some of y'all adamantly want less bowls be played just b/c you personally don't like the teams involved.
