For the first time in years we qualify to contribute the full amount for tax year 2025.
What am I buying?
I already have a bunch of blue chip dividend stocks and generic age-based funds and a total market fund. And a modest cash position waiting for that eminent market crash I've been hearing about for 10 years.

How long until you plan on withdrawing it?

7 years. But it won't be all withdrawn at once and will already be mixed in with a bunch of other things already in the account. I'm open to short and long term investments.

You’ll get plenty of advice on this even though you didn’t ask for it.

Instead of looking for something new, take this as a catalyst to assess your current allocation and rebalance as needed. Sounds like you might be a little all over the place. The whole point of target date funds is to diversify and auto rebalance which is potentially under minded by your other holdings.Take a closer look at where you hold each asset class. For instance, Roth is often considered best place to hold higher growth assets while slower growth dividend stocks may be more suitable in traditional.

In case you or spouse is 50+ the Roth contribution is $8k. Typically, Roth is last thing you want to tap in retirement unless you really need the $ and trying to stay below income limits for ACA subsidies etc.
Have you been above Roth income limit in previous years? If so, have you considered backdoor Roth in high income years?

Problem is I also have so much in a Trad IRA that the backdoor option for a Roth would require me writing a very large check. But yes, I had looked into it.

That bites, you don't have a 401k that accepts rollovers either?

I just now got the joke. Last night I was on Google Finance trying to find HKRS and YAYO.
HKRS actually is a delisted energy company.

Most of the time, it’s best to leave the Roth bucket alone for as long as possible. Let it be focused on growth and the last bucket you touch. It’s growing tax-free. So remove the dividend stocks and set it for growth. Add international and small cap if you haven’t already.
