Now, an unofficial private sector team of forensic scientists has put fresh eyes on Cobain's autopsy and crime scene materials, bringing in Brian Burnett, a specialist who previously worked on cases involving overdoses followed by gunshot trauma.

Independent researcher Michelle Wilkins, who worked with the team, told Daily Mail that after just three days looking into the evidence with fresh eyes, Burnett said: 'This is a homicide. We've got to do something about this.'

The peer-reviewed paper presented ten points of evidence suggesting Cobain was confronted by one or more assailants who forced a heroin overdose to incapacitate him, before one of them shot him in the head, placed the gun in his arms and left behind a forged suicide note.

This seems incredibly unlikely

Why shoot him when you could just make him OD? Cleaner. Less evidence. Seems more plausible.

Deaths that are not natural causes are classified as homicides in police reports.

Suicides are classified as homicides.

I know this because I have the police report and coroners report to prove it.

His death is the only reason his music was more than Puddle of Mudds’s.

I'm not a fan of his music, or that genre in general, but this is simply not true.

Nevermind alone sold more than 10 million copies before his death. Puddle of Mudd’s most successful album didn’t break 4 million.

Same. He’s properly rated I’d say.

Wait wait wait… so they’re saying a group of people forced a drug addict to overdose on heroin by force, then shot him in the face, then placed the gun in his hands and wrote a suicide note?

Yeah, consider me skeptical.

At the time he was trying to get clean, trying to leave his wife, and...retire from a lucrative career. I'm sure that was the original plan, but he probably had a heavy tolerance. So, the shotgun was backup. A lot of money at stake in this "suicide".
