Seems a little soon, right? The Darabont movie (which was excellent) isn't even 20 years old.

quote:

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros is reuniting frequent collaborators Mike Flanagan and Stephen King on a new adaptation of The Mist, based on King’s acclaimed 1980 novella.

Flanagan will direct and write the screenplay. He will produce through Red Room alongside Tyler Thompson and Spyglass’ Gary Barber and Chris Stone. Alexandra Magistro will also executive produce for Red Room.

In The Mist, a small town in Maine is consumed by a thick mysterious fog from which creatures emerge to attack the townsfolk. A group of survivors hole up in a local grocery store. As often happens with King’s fiction, anarchy and societal reordering brings out the best in some, and the absolute worst in others, sparking mob mentality and empowering unhinged extremists who become as dangerous as the horrors outside.

"The Mist"

That 2007 movie's ending is one of the craziest endings ever . . .

Completely messed up.

It won’t hold even a fricking candle to how great the 2007 film was. Darabont absolutely knocked it out of the park with that cast - Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, Thomas Jane, Marcia Gray-Harden.

Seeing that once was more than enough. Don’t want to go through that again

Agree. Don’t want to watch that again. Thomas Jane acted his arse off - made me feel it.

The first one was perfect. Even came up with a better ending.

I’ll watch anything Flanagan does as he is the best horror director working today

That said, there are plenty of other King stories worthy of adaption. Not sure another Mist film is needed

I mean the monsters are supposed to represent ones inner fears. Bella just chases everyone around dressed like chunk from goonies screaming. IM GONNA BE A DAD

Right now he’s finishing up Carrie I believe, then doing the new Exorcist movie, then doing this.

There was also a TV series in 2017.

He also plans to do a Dark Tower series for Amazon at some point.

The Mist. Again. Is this like 3rd time?

Meanwhile, The Talisman is just sitting over there in the corner forever like WTF? Why?

Love Flanagan but as others have stated, it's way too soon to be remaking The Mist. Plus good luck topping that ending.
