I've not seen a second of this, but my wife's been eager to get down after watching. I recommend any married men here get their wives into this show, pronto.

I thought it's been better than Season 3 so far.

I can sit down and watch this with my wife without getting too aggravated. Season 2 with the hot brown girls was very enjoyable. S3 with porky Penelope was not as fun.

not to out myself, but been watching since S1, having no idea what i was getting into.

the closing line from Benedict, was the most retarded line i've ever heard from a male lead who is not an overt villain in recent history.

"will you be my mistress?" made my jaw drop, but my wife who read the books knew that would be the ending.

she also not happy about the middle sister heading towards lesbianism.

I read all the books, but hate the way they are changing the leads' story lines. When Benedict started making out with another guy in the first five minutes, I was out...

The story has been entertaining. I don't particularly care for them adopting the current Hollywood strategy of showing pretty consistently dudes asses but zero women's tits. I miss season 1. They always do this shite.

SPOILERS:

I think they gender-swapped the character for the series. It's a dude in the novel.

I'll probably watch the 4th episode this week at some point.

It's been decent. I read the Benedict book and the Eloise book but haven't read the Francesca book (but know the general plot). I've enjoyed it so far and like the casting of Sophie.

Spoiler:

In Francesca's book (When He Was Wicked), Francesca is married to John (Lord Kilmartin) and John dies in his sleep. Francesca is also pregnant at this time. Michael (who is Michaela in the show) is friendly with Francesca (secretly in love with her), inherits the Earldom and Francesca eventually marries him. There's a whole thing about her wanting to have a child and all of that too that's a central part of that story.

So if they've flipped Michael's gender but are going to pursue the same storyline, I don't have a clue how they're going to do that with any authenticity. And that would be annoying IMO. You could gender-swap some other characters much easier with more complimentary storylines.

Meh, Pen is absolutely wild in bed and has tits for days. Hell, that 3rd brother is the real winner.

It looks like Francesca will be the sister who is gay, not Eloise. They gender swapped Francesca’s love interest. In the book it’s a man named Michael. In the series it’s a woman named Michaela.

New to this series. We are almost through the first season. Because of the setting, I thought it was another Downton Abby. I's kind of the same only a lot more R-Rated.

Took a little while to get into it but, I'm liking it so far.

even though this show happens 100 years before Downton, It's kind of hard to believe a 21 yr old woman had no idea how babies were made. I get that the mom wasn't much help. But, brothers, sisters, friends, relatives, no one explained this to her? And she seems to be rather well educated but, didn't learn about biology?

Also, 100 years later on Downton Abby, the interracial thing caused quite a stir in Downton Abby. But, in this show it seems to be rather commonplace. It's the same country but, something that was frowned upon 100 yrs later is widely accepted. More like it is 100 yrs post Downton.

It’s not meant to be super historically accurate (Fellowes made it a point to be as historically accurate as possible with Downton). It’s very stylized. A lot of the costuming is only loosely based around the period as well. I wouldn’t try to hold it to that standard IMO.

That's cool. Just an observation. Doesn't really change anything in the grand scheme. Just thought it was odd.

That said, the female lead looks 16 in season 1. And the oldest brother is a dick.
