Who remembers pouches of milk with yellow straws with school lunches back in the day?

This has to be a south Louisiana thing or something. I remember them and every time I talk about it no one outside of Louisiana has any clue what I'm talking about, regardless of age.

Nope. 53 and went to public school my whole life. In NLA though so maybe it was more a regional SLA thing.

Nope, had mini cartons of milk and it was always an awesome day when you got to pick chocolate milk instead of 2%.

You were probably just a little too old to remember them.

Seems they started around 1992 in middle schools. I remember they sent out water filled pouches to "practice" on before doing the full roll out.

Former MHS Skipper reporting in to say this is true.

The catholic elementary school Mary Queen of Peace also had bagged milk in the late 90s.

I remember them. Also remember the milk being spoiled more often than not. Think we gave on school lunches by 6th grade and packed our own.

Was this a BR only thing? My wife/her siblings and friends didn't have this in NO.

It's mainly a Louisiana thing yes. Not sure why but hardly anyone outside of here had them as kids.
