Will Wade had generated an interest in MBB because he created excitement in the program not seen since John Brady.

WW generated some interest because (for whatever reason) he was able to be competitive in the payment of players. I highly doubt LSU is willing to pay elite players what its going to take to compete in basketball post NIL. It sucks but its what it is.

A coach like Mulkey forces support - I have no issue with it - we need to get a men's coach who does the same. We had one but we were too short sighted and to see and too weak to persevere.

One makes the final four more often and has won a title. That’s usually a recipe for getting support from a school.

I have recently gone to a women's and a men's game. I was able to get midcourt seats for both. They were in the 200-level row B for the men's, and I was near the top of the 300-level for the women's. Men's was only slightly more expensive on the secondary market than women's was from LSU directly. Fan support for a winner looks that way.

Everyone seems to be over talking themselves. That’s my game, should I join in!

The "whatever reason" is that immediately upon his arrival Wade started building relationships with any and everyone who could be a potential big donor. He spent the spring and summer with lots of speaking engagements all over the state. That wasn't to "attract fans" it was to get donors.

MM has not done that to any large degree. He does not like doing it. He outsources it, and the recruiting, to his assistants. Mulkey goes out and engages with donors. Johnson does so. You've seen Kiffin in just the last month speaking at a business leaders event in BR and hanging out at a basketball game in Houston with a 22 year old who (a) graduated from LSU and (b) is a member of a family worth several billions. Kiffin isn't doing that because he's trying to "get fan support". Those people are ALREADY fans. He's making relationships to get the funds he needs for his program.

This whole stupid notion which arose from a PR statement pushed out by the former admin last season that "LSU doesn't spend money or care about MBB" is ridiculous. It's that LSU has a head coach who doesn't want to do what is necessary to get the money and get people to "care".

Get a HC in who will build relationships and win, and you will suddenly se a lot of people "care" about LSU basketball.

I actually don’t understand why we have to talk about MBB so much on here. Let me lay it out for you all.

LSU sucks we pretty much always have most likely always will.

We are good at WBB so just watch that instead.

Basketball in general is one of the worst sports to watch besides maybe march madness

If you’re obsessed with MBB and don’t know what to do maybe pick a new team or go down to your local park or ymca and watch them play

I don't understand why some people feel the need to interject themselves into a discussion they don't care about. If you don't like basketball that is perfectly fine. But just ignore the discussions about it and let those who do like it continue on.

There are a LOT of sports at LSU I, personally, could not give any less of a shite about. But I don't bemoan those who do like those sports, nor lack an understanding of why they choose to talk about those sports.

LSU didn't "suck" in the 1980's. In fact, they sucked FAR less than baseball and football did during that period. So the statement that LSU has "always sucked" is patently false. They also didn't "suck" just 5 years ago.

Then don't watch it. Personally, I think baseball is mind-numbingly boring to watch. But again, I don't knock those who think otherwise.

I could say I don't understand why we have to talk about baseball so much when, even though LSU is great, it's an obscure sport that 98% of the country doesn't care about. But I don't because there are people who are LSU fans that really like the sport and like discussing it. And why shouldn't they be allowed to discuss it.

Well this is an open forum so people can share their opinion whether you like it or not. I did not expect my take to be a popular one and that’s fine I’m just tired of seeing these posts over and over as if anything will change.

I understand we have had better days in basketball but 3 final 4 appearances in 45 years isn’t exactly anything to post about.

I do not watch it as it’s boring, I just don’t understand the hype by watching a 2 hour long event that really only matters in the last 2 minutes of the game.

I can understand not finding baseball interesting that’s completely fair. I personally love college baseball but not the MLB.
