Cut it off and let her get back up there

Going to be in the next winter paralympic games

It was also the same leg that had sustained the ACL injury a little less than two weeks ago.

“Horror crash” seems a bit dramatic. Looks like a pretty normal Olympic ski bail. She will endure…

Selfish chick. Instead of giving the alternate a shot, she got greedy and decided to hobble down instead. Not cool.

She was actually very competitive in her practice runs earlier, faster than several of her teammates.
She hooked a gate with her pole, it's a freak thing.
There is absolutely risk in skiing injured, but to imply she was a washed up has been, and had no chance at being competitive, is disingenuous, at best.

The butthurt is strong in these anti Vonn threads.

Her hand actually hooked the gate. Slow reaction timing at sub 50 mph. She’s lucky this occurred early in the race. Coming off her skies in the 80 mph range could have been the ultimate tragedy

You mean the spot she earned?

Which may have been a direct result of her ACL injury. This doctor breaks down how it happened:

Thats a stretch. They clip the gates all the time. Vonn just clipped it at the exact wrong moment right after she had lost contact with the ground.
Here is a clip of another skier breaking her hand on a gate during World Cup competition:

This is one of those "should she shouldn't she" things.
One one hand, she was deemed healthy enough to compete and it's the Olympics, so she doesn't get another shot next week. Additionally as you state, she was one of the best qualifying.
However, when you have an injury in a sport like this, it absolutely makes you think about things more which can cause a ripple effect. If she wasn't worried a bit about her ACL would she have done better on this gate? Impossible to answer but there is probably a higher chance than before it played a part

That's the sound of a father who probably didn't approve of her skiing in the Olympics at age 41 with a torn ACL

CORTINA D'AMPEZZO, Italy (AP) — Lindsey Vonn's father said Monday that the American superstar will no longer race if he has any influence over her decision and that she will not return to the Winter Olympics after breaking her leg in the downhill over the weekend.
"She's 41 years old and this is the end of her career," Alan Kildow said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "There will be no more ski races for Lindsey Vonn, as long as I have anything to say about it."

Yes she has golds, yes she is good but that woman crashes ALOT. She has no control and just flies down the mountain. Sometimes it works out of her, hence the golds but in all reality she is a terrible skier in comparison to other downhill skiers. Her strategy is to go balls to the wall or vagina to the snow and lets it all hang out.

I love her toughness and single-mindedness.
She went out like someone that was giving it her all.
I respect that.

I don’t care what anyone says. She is an athlete willing to go out on her shield chasing her ultimate dream.
