Recommendations for Water Heater installers, Baton Rouge

I changed out my 50 gallon gas water heater over 15 years ago. I had the help of two others. I managed to get the old one out by myself but getting the new one up in the attic was the difficult part. Installation was easy. I'm 67 now, and f*ck doing that again. The water heater is working fine, but I'm afraid that it's going to die without warning and I'll be up sh*t creek until it gets fixed. Who is Baton Rouge will do the work for a fair price (not looking for the cheapest), just don't want to get gouged. Also, recommendations for brands would be appreciated. I've never looked into a tankless. Comments on switching to that would be appreciated as well.

Any chance of moving that out of the attic. I think attic water heaters should be against code because it isn't a matter of if

Places like southern pipe will have plumbers numbers that will do it on the side.
Just an fyi, prepare thy anus for a regular plumber. They are charging $2000-3500 for a replacement these days. It’s insane. And that’s not in an attic.

We used Louis Mechanical when we switched to a tankless a few years ago. I had a tank in the attic and made the swap. I think ours is a Navien. They came out to flush it a year or two after the install. I think swapping is pretty straight forward if you already have gas.

We replaced two standard water heaters with tankless in my previous house. In the course of doing so, turned out that the vent stack wasn’t a large enough diameter, and had to be replaced, so that increased the cost a good bit. Possibly could have gotten by with two smaller ones, but the upcharge on the units was small. Zero regrets.
Couple of good recommendations in here, get at least two estimates. As OP already knows, it’s a two person job.
