1. Hire an idiot to be the GM
2. Bring back an idiot to start the season as coach
3. Latest effort: trade the fan favorite Jose for cash, to try to keep even more fans away from the games.

How exactly does sabotaging the team help a sale/move?

No fans in seats makes nba not happy. Players gripe. Media types make fun of etc... .

NBA gets offered new town, happy fans and modern arena to support the move as "good for everyone and the league as we are so happy to welcome the (bigger market) the great city of _ _ _."

The lower the attendance, the more support she gets from the league to support a move.

That image says it all. Move this team.

We’re a G League city and Kenner can support it better.

That wouldn’t exactly be moving the team though

Why do people think the league would not support a move?

It's moronic to think the league is dying to keep the NBA here. The other owners have been itching to get a Vegas or Seattle franchise. Being able to do so without further splitting the TV money is their dream.

2 words:

Franchise fees.

quote:

Estimated NBA expansion fees for prospective teams in cities like Seattle or Las Vegas are projected to be between $4 billion and $5 billion.

$8-10B straight cash homey.

Also part of the calculation in expansion is to increase the media fees down the road.

Alternately, it helps ownership squeeze the city and state for as much money as possible to bribe the team to stay regardless of its' success or failure. A very clear threat to move helps in the "give me a brand new arena or I'm selling to Vegas investors" is a handy one to have if the state knows you're serious. At the end of the day, the state still takes in more tax revenue from pro athletes playing there than they do if pro athletes don't.
