Anyone excited for this game?
I played some resident evils back in the day growing up, on the older systems.
But the past few years my daughter and I have played resident evil 2,3,&4 remakes, biohazard and village. She loves these games so I’m definitely gonna buy it and give it a try.
Recent gameplay footage looks pretty good.

It looks alright. I kind of wish that they went with the original plan to make it as a Leon-only survival horror game. Having to switch characters with different tones sort of dilutes the horror factor to a certain degree.

Enjoy it because it’s going to be the last RE storyline game for a while.

Yeah, the Grace parts look more survival horror and the Leon parts looks more Chris Redfield action type game play. I just hope the switching between characters doesn’t make the game feel off.
And is it the last game for awhile? I didn’t know that.

The theory is that this is a sendoff for the main cast of the games up to this point. Resident evil games will not stop being made, but they may no longer have Jill, Chris, Claire or Leon in them.

There's a lot of smoke that RE0 and Code Veronica remakes are in the works. I'd be shocked if they didn't eventually remake even 5 and 6

I thoroughly enjoy 99% of Resident Evil content. I don't see any indication that this will be a miss. Ready for it to come out.

Its been said that it is designed to close the long-running narrative arc concerning Umbrella, Raccoon City, and the classic characters acting as a kinda conclusion and a fresh start allowing future entries to explore new characters and directions with out being tied to the "old" RE universe.

It felt like that was what 7 and 8 were doing but I guess those were kinda a side story of the broader RE story but the Shadow of Rose DLC pretty much wrapped that up I guess.

I actually like that idea. They've had parts in the previous games where you switch briefly to weaponless characters and I like that change of pace. The developers described it as the Grace parts building the tension and Leon parts as the release of that tension. Anyway Capcom rarely lets me down and just coming off of playing RE 4 Remake Im really looking foward to it.

I have no idea why Capcom has such a boner for trying to turn RE into an action series.

They pretty much fully jumped the shark with 6 and then had to course correct with 7 and everyone celebrated it.

Then with 8 they IMMEDIATELY pivoted back to action. They said many people found 7 "too scary" (it's a horror game WTF). 8 had plenty of horror parts but by the end you were battling gigantic robot tanks and then playing Call of Duty with werewolves.

There are a GAZILLION games centered around fast paced action, we don't need more of those. RE games need to stay primarily horror based.

I get 9 being the "final" game for the main cast too. It's sad but it's kinda inevitable. Racoon City was suppose do be in 1998. Unless they have a floating time line you pretty much have to "end" that story line. It's not like a Mario situation where the characters are ageless.

I could see RE becoming an anthology type series going forward. Spin up a new storyline somewhere, run it for 2-3 games, repeat.

Action games are easier to play and sell much better to mainstream audiences compared to actual horror games.
