It's a strange dichotomy. LSU isn't playing NC State, why can't anyone be fans of Will Wade? I love some William Wallace Wade. Wish he would come back here, but I know that's almost certainly not in the cards. I'll be pulling for him as long as he's not in the SEC and not coaching against LSU.

Oh God! Please...no national negative headlines! I rather see LSU go through 4 years of constant losing and being totally irrelevant than have to listen to the negative opinion of some dweeb who isn't even an LSU fan. ANYTHING but that! There has been exactly one coach in the SEC over the last 10 years who has "won it all". In that same time period, there have only been 8 coaches to win it all. Four of them are now retired, and the other 4 aren't leaving their current post to come coach LSU. But feel free to tell us the coach (a) LSU is going to get and (b) will guarantee an Elite 8 appearance? If he's there, go get him!!!

If you told fans LSU could hire a guy with, over the course of (nearly) 12 seasons, a .700 winning %, has taken (soon to be) 8 teams to the NCAA Tournament (not counting a 9th team had the 2020 tournament not been cancelled), never had a losing season, recently tied the NCAA record for the biggest year to year improvement in NCAA history, and in the first year at his current school has already won 5 more games than the school won last season....with over a month still remaining in this season...while ALSO having the best winning % at LSU in 100 years, people would be beyond excited.

Yet, put the name "Will Wade" at the top of that resume and suddenly he's a bum and LSU could do much better...despite NOT doing better over the course of 30 years!

I guess being a contrarian sometimes requires one to be devoid of all logical thinking.

And Wade had a better start to his LSU career than that "actual coach". Brown didn't even have his first winning season in SEC play until his 6th year. Wade had already won the SEC by year 2...after taking over a team that was in last place two year prior. In fact, NO ONE had a better first 5 years of his LSU career than Wade since the halcyon days of Charles Stroud from 1914-1918...and who could ever forget those!

Who knows where things would have gone had he not been fired? He had what was likely going to be his highest ranked HS signing class lined up and the transfer portal was just becoming a major aspect of roster building. Notably, in his first season of using the portal he found a 6th man from Cincinnati and turned him into an All SEC player and NBA 1st round pick

Do you have insider information? I thought Verge just wants to shut the program down. According to people here, his recent interview intimated he was keeping MM for another year. I’d almost prefer just shut it down until the money is right to get another coach.
