I am asking for recommendations. My 11 year-old daughter is in a competition at the Sigur Civic Center in Chalmette later this month.

i am looking for accommodations close to there that are family safe and nice - meaning at least reasonably upscale.

I would appreciate your suggestions.

Thank you.

There are a couple Airbnb down there (Arabi). And a Holiday Inn express not far from the WalMart.

Do not get an AirBnB in the lower 9th (north of the Parish line at Angela Street.

Do not get a place in New Orleans East.

The Area by the Marina has a few places but isn't great.

Honestly, staying in Slidell may be the better move. Only a 20 minute drive in.

Staying in the city is more expensive and will take a lot more research for a good area.

Upscale in Slidell? Maybe compared to the East but Slidell is now
New Orleans East - East. The Dirty Dell is trending downward.

Stay in Metairie.

When it was new, maybe, but after many refinery turnarounds, no thanks. Slidell or Metairie as someone already suggested.

Family safe and nice means you won’t be staying in Chalmette.

Not a suggestion, that’s a fact.

Metry as has been earlier mentioned.

Mandeville and drive the hour as an alternative.

Parish resident here. Several very nice Air BnB options in Arabi. That will be your best bet. Would not recommend any of the hotel options, especially if you are looking for “upscale” lol.

Thanks for all your replies and suggestions.

Any thoughts on places in Slidell? If not, Metry it will be.
