What are some things you think are stupid about American society?

I think as a consequence of being a society based on consumerism we see a lot of dumb trends. For example - a couple years ago every basic bitch in the world whether rich or broke as a joke just had to have a Stanley water thermos. The company has been around since every last one of us has even been alive.

I'm sure social media contributes greatly to the trend chasing but I think the shite is stupid. If you can barely afford rent why are you trying to flex on someone with a 50 dollar water bottle? Anyone that actually knows you IRL knows you're broke AF anyway.

I guess the counter example for men would be dudes that are wearing YETI ball caps. Why do you feel the need to tell the world you have an expensive ice chest? Do people really think that's some sort of flex?

Other such stupid examples are people who care about what brand of phone someone else has. I realize that one probably applies to a small minority of society but these people do exist among us and might even have the audacity to vote.

The only thing that is dumb in my onion is that a free country allows for fake propaganda to be spread 24/7 in every aspect of our lives.

I could see why you hold that opinion since you consistently fall for it and get called on it.

Americans

Yeah that probably applies to most countries though so I don't think that's something that is uniquely American in nature.

But on the consumerism topic, like it or not that is part of "our culture"...something to think about when people talk about the culture that we have to keep pure. That stupid shite is thrown in with it whether we like it or not.

We are so pampered and insulated from real adversity that we have no concept of what it takes to get through tough times.

I was blessed to grow up around grand parents who went through the depression and explained how things were for them.

Guilt over things we had ZERO control over. Someone I never met did bad things to someone you never met. Victimhood mentality of the weak.

I live in the south and had multiple ancestors die fighting for freedom slaves, but I’m still a white devil. Pretty gay.

That 60% of Americans dont have enough savings to cover a $1,000 emergency expense. Yet, people waste tens of thousands on new cars or toys.

Consumerism (never owned a Stanley btw)

Falls under consumerism but “needing” the newest version of something. I’m more impressed when I find out someone has an iPhone 6 than whatever the latest model is.

Also falls under consumerism but just how wasteful we are. Discarding perfectly good items in the name of trends.

Football. It’s just so physically damaging.

Yeah at some point people have to move on. Same with the natives. As if they weren't at war with each other anyway. They're probably lucky we got to them first and not the Chinese or some other culture that would have destroyed and colonized the area eventually anyway.
