It really is NFLSU as the business model. Glad Belton is around seems like a good dude everyone likes.

Lane Kiffin is retaining a key member of the LSU football front office. JR Belton has been promoted to Assistant General Manager, sources confirm.
Belton was promoted to Director of Football Operations last January. He had served as Director of Football Recruiting under Brian Kelly. He first joined the LSU staff in spring of 2021. Kiffin brought Billy Glasscock with him from Ole Miss to serve as General Manager. Belton’s promotion is pending approval from the LSU Board of Supervisors.
Belton is a Ruston, La., native who played quarterback at West Monroe and Louisiana Tech. He has worked at his alma mater and Virginia before joining the LSU staff.

For all I know, the Belton hire may be fully justified. But it has all the appearances of a political hire per Landry.
