My dad was an amateur & took all his photos on slides before digital cameras b/c the image quality was better. He had a slide scanner that he purchased to convert them to digital files. You might look into that. We used a photo lab in Jackson, MS for prints, but I couldn’t tell you if they were still in business, I’m sorry!

Costco, CVS, WalMart and others will do the scanning/conversion. There may be some local proprietors you can use.
Like this guy. Wareagle

Kodak actually has an app that does this on your phone. May check that out.

Member since 2009 and this is your 6th post. I feel like you have waited 17 years for this post.
Congrats on the resilience

As someone who owns a dedicated film scanner, IMO this is not a task you want to try to do yourself unless you're a hobbyist or pro with a relatively high volume of film to scan. Anything inexpensive is cr@p, and anything other than S-L-O-W is expensive and/or cr@p.
Fortunately there are services that make a business of this. I don't know about BR, but in NOLA and on the northshore there's Lakeside Camera. The really big service, which had a good reputation last I knew, was or is Scan Cafe; IIRC they send your film to India, but this doesn't seem to have been a problem. If it doesn't need to be local but you want it in the U.S., you might try Mpix, Dwayne's in Kansas, or Bay Photo in California.

I have used Legacy Box a couple of times with great results. They have a good tracking system so you know where your pics or tapes are in the process. Sign up for their emails to receive their best pricing.
