What a piece of shite she is…

And that stupid chin quivering … how fake does that look?

That's funny. I recently watched all eight seasons for the first time. During Season 4 I was thinking the exact same thing. What she did to that kid.

I think the writing was very good though. On one hand, it's not a crime to love your uncle. But by providing material support (the medicine), it made him a legit target, and we're not supposed to feel sorry for him. Or at least, we should have mixed feelings about it. That's why I think the writing was so good.

Is it fake though? I watched The Beast In Me recently and she does it in that also. It's distracting to the point I burst out laughing every time she does it.

Carrie would have never been able to get a clearance with her history of mental illness. The fact that she wasn't punished for taking TS/SI documents out of the SCIF and to her place of residence makes the show all the more unrealistic. I also love how they constantly use their cell phones inside the SCIF.

I just watched the first episode, first season, this week. I didn't know it had so many seasons. Is this show worth a shite, or do I cut bait now?

I agree. I liked the show but after the first few seasons it got kind of ridiculous, mostly around her character's behavior.

I’ve started it 2 or 3 times and can never get to the end because of how ridiculous Carrie gets.

I think I cut bait after season 2. I may have not even finished season 2. Can't remember. Whatever I did, I don't regret it.

This was such a great show, but mainly for the stories and the cast around her. She becomes insufferable to watch. I think I finally tapped out for the final 2 seasons.

It is a very good and entertaining series.
Carrie is meant to be a flawed carrier, but she is devoted to her mission.

It get's dicey in the middle. It's been a while since I watched it, but I thought the last season was very well done.

Every movie and show requires a suspension of disbelief in one way or another. Homeland can be challenging because it's sort of an exponential situation you have to accept:

1. That she could keep her security clearance once they discovered how unstable she is, and that she was hiding her condition.
2. That her amazing instincts are so valuable, that it continually warrants bringing her into the latest crisis.
3. That she is a superhero who not only solves the season's main terrorist plot, but single-handedly saves the world (physically stopping the plot) in the process.

I loved the show because it did a good job keeping the tension up throughout the seasons. A lot of people can't take the mentally ill female superhero shtick.

The best line of the entire series is in the first season - possibly the very beginning of the 1st episode.

They are talking about raiding a mosque or something like that and someone objects, saying: "But the imam is going to say XYZ"

And the govt guy goes: "the IMAM? It'll be his word against ours".

We’re on season 6 now and Carrie is insufferable. I say to my wife every episode: “has there been one episode she’s not crying??”

She may be the most irritating character ever conceived for a tv show.

I have this type of OCD that no matter how bad a show is I finish it even if I hate it I have to know how it ends. During season 4 or 5 I turned it off 1/2 way through an episode and have never watched another episode.

Not sure how anyone made it past season 2, even that was a struggle.
