Be honest with yourself. Did you know this or did you think the opposite was true?

Well what did you expect? You repeated a cheap media talking point without linking anything… likely because the reasons were clearly explained therein.

And when did you start giving a shite about the trade deficit?

I'm going to call this one "true, but misleading".

Just eyeballing it, the deficit is ever so slightly lower in 2025 compared to 2024. However, that's only if you ignore the giant explosion of trade deficit in the initial clusterfrick months leading up to the tariff idiocy. If you include those months (which you would if simply comparing year over year), 2025 is worse. So, was the deficit higher in 2025 compared to 2024? Yes. Is the trade deficit lower post tariffs compared to pre tariffs? Also yes. Not by very much, but yes.

I've been told that Trump's trade policy would reduce the trade deficit and that would be awesome

I'm not sure how recent the info you're looking at is but the driver seems to be a huge increase in November

BTW this is only through the month of November for both years

Fueled by EU shortfalls that showed up very late in the year according to reports from reputable financial news sources.

Got it. The old “why didn’t orange fix literally everything we’ve ever fricked up in year one” argument.

I thought, for a moment, you were serious.

Are you ever going to post your proof? Or do we just have to trust you?

I could find 5 different sources and post them all and you'd refute every one of them because you don't like where it came from.

This is coming from official government reports.

Q1 was the highest trade deficit in history at 4.2% of GDP. Trump cited that as one reason for the big Liberation Day push.
