It means thet an issue came up during jury selection and one side didn't like the way the trial judge ruled on it. One party filed a writ asking the Appellate Court to change the ruling. Jury selection was halted while this is being decided. No other details were given, probably because sensitive information involving minors would be revealed.

Not going to say too much (DV incoming) but hearing it from the family's perspective was pretty comical.
It was the mayors kids birthday, who is buddies with the "victim". She wsa letting them all drink and she's drinking it up and getting toasty too, wearing a bikini and stuff at the party. The kids notice that the "victim" isn't around so they start to go look for him. The kids look around the outside of the house and they peek into a window and see the "victim" getting rode hard by the mom
This ain't the first time she's been caught cheating. She's been caught in the back seat of a cop car too.
