Sneaky good card under the main event:

Hooker vs St Denis will be a banger.

Tuivasa vs Giant Brazilian will be a shite show, but a fun shite show.

Fiziev is always fun, too.

Honstely, Volk vs Lopes does almost nothing for me. Lopes should not be in this fight.

And Paramount better not fuking cut out Volk's walkout of Land Down Under IN Australia.

quote:

Main card (Paramount+ at 9 p.m. ET)

Alexander Volkanovski vs. Diego Lopes

Dan Hooker vs. Benoit Saint Denis

Rafael Fiziev vs. Mauricio Ruffy

Tai Tuivasa vs. Tallison Teixeira

Quillan Salkilld vs. Jamie Mullarkey

Prelims (Paramount+ at 7 p.m. ET)

Junior Tafa vs. Billy Elekana

Cam Rowston vs. Cody Brundage

Jacob Malkoun vs. Torrez Finney

I’m the opposite. Maybe Lopes dosent deserve it, but Volk-Lopes 1 was one of the best fights of the year last year. Everything under that does nothing for me

-hooker looked like an absolute bum against Arman his last fight, hopefully it will be better since it will be a stand up fight

-tai has lost 5 in a row but I get the Aussie appeal

-Fiziev is whatever, average fighter

Will have to miss this one but hope it can deliver for y’all baws

yeah we have a few fights left with volk and this very well could be his last fight in australia. id much rather see a great fight than evloev or the boring black fighter take on volk. also lopes has stepped up for the company so many times and put on great fights.

Quillan Salkilld vs. Jamie Mullarkey

jamie mullarkey is about to take a fricking beating.

Fiziev looks juicy. Seems like a lot of muscle to add on in 6 months and stay at the same weight.

How the hell did Fiziev make 155 with all that added juice? It's not exactly like he was pudgy before. He was absolutely shredded anyway.

Thats nuts.

To be fair, everyone knew Hooker had no shot. Arman would be a multi-defense champion if he wasnt a flake.

Love that it starts a 9p not instead of 10. Hate that despite that it's still going to end around 1am. (EST)

I’m sure they’ll get it dialed in. They have only one event as a sample size so far.

This is a good highlights compilation of the first fight:

It was a better fight than I remember. Volk was cracking Diego hard early.

The part where I remembered Diego almost having Volk on the ropes wasn't as bad for Volk as I thought. Like I thought I remembered Diego almost knocking Volk out and Volk stumbling backwards into the cage. Maybe they didn't show that part in this video, I don't know.

What I remember is that Diego gained confidence by the end and was marching Volk down and yelling.

I predict Diego will try to start where he left off last time and go for an early KO of Volk. I could see Diego knocking Volk out if he catches him with a barrage. But I think Volk will have made adjustments and improvements too. So it's hard to say. Volk did as much ground-and-pound as he could in the first fight, maybe he'll try for even more in this one. If it goes to a decision, I think Volk wins again.

But Volk has shown some chinks in the armor his last few fights. How much longer can he keep the young guns at bay?

Volk landed some BIG shots early and dominated the first 2 rounds. I think the kid was surprised at his aggressiveness. To Lopes' credit though, he ate them and kept coming, eventually knocking Volk down at the end of the 3rd. The last 2 rounds it felt like Volk was holding on for dear life because Lopes just kept coming. Volk was smart though and was able to stay out of harms way while also attacking when there was an opening. I thought this was the most impressive performance of his career and it isnt talked about enough. He was 37 and coming off of back to back KOs, everybody including me thought it was over for him and Lopes would KO him into retirement, but he came back and showed why he's one of the GOATs. Hope he can do it again

My most anticipated fight on the card is Fiziev vs Ruffy. Hard to be excited for main event when Volk asked for Murphy and Movsar available. I got Volk by decision again.

Just watched Lopes vs Silva for the first time. Lopes has a ridiculous chin. He was getting absolutely pieced by Silva before he landed that swinging back elbow.

Yeah Silvia is a beast even though his personality is questionable. Had he fight with patience, he would’ve beat Diego. But he did learn from it.

Nakamura must have been like +10,000 going into the third. Fought like the moment was too big for him for two rounds, then comes through with the killer knee in the third. Wow.
