Can Queen even dunk the ball at 6’9”?

I love the kid and he has some good skills that will hopefully keep getting better but he looks like the least athletic player on the floor every night. So many times I’ve seen him get an offensive rebound and instead of slamming it home he tries a layup which either gets blocked or he misses too often. Not trying to knock him I just hope he grows into his body a bit better in the next couple years. As far as tipoff goes though they should just let Z or Trey jump against the opposing center.

Hate to say it, but in today's game, because of his lack of athleticism, he's almost unplayable. Unless something miraculous happens (and if it did, it wouldn't be anytime soon), he will always be handicapped on the defensive end regardless of his remarkable vision and offensive 'feel'.
This isn't the 1960's, 70's, or even 80's, Gone are the days of Rick Robey (no disrespect intended). Bryant 'Big Country' Reeves couldn't translate, and he was more ballyhooed than Queen.
DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!!
Sidenote: I'm fairly certain that this post will be met with scorn but I can handle it.

Yeah i hear you.
Guys like Luka and Jokic are almost unplayable as well with their lack of athleticism. It's a miracle they've each made 5 first team all-nba teams being hamstrung like that.
And i can't for the life of me figure out how 6'9" Zach Randolph played almost 20 years in the league with that lack of athleticism and unorthodox style down low.
and to the idiot OP, here's DQ dunking on Valancuinas

Queen Makes Luka and 'The Joker' look like a cross between Shaq, Dr, J., Nureyev and Baryshnikov.

Hold on there turbo. I think its WAAAAY too early to even mention DQ with guys like Luka and Jokic. If he turns out half as good as them then we easily won the ridiculous trade Dumars made with Atlanta but I don’t see that. He’s a great passer for a big man but he doesn’t have the outside shot like Jokic or Luka. I hope he turns into a 20/10 double-double machine but lately his scoring has taken a hit from earlier in the year as guys start to learn how to play him. Now it’s on Queen to make adjustments. If Missi wouldn’t foul out by halftime the way he’s playing on both ends of the court I would start him and have Queen/Fears coming off the bench. Yves has been playing his arse off lately.

Imagine my absolute horror of what you think.

and we are still losing. Z needs to go. I'd rather see how Ives plays with DQ.

You know exactly what i meant by what i said. don't jump to stupid conclusions.

Not yet, and maybe he doesn't get that 3 point shot like Jokic, but he can knock down elbow jumpers i think.
Jokic was 48% from outside 10' on 2 pointers in his first 3 years. DQ is sitting at 40%. I think he can work on that shot more and be effective from that David West area. We need Zion's work ethic out of the building before he infects DQ.
and just a comparison, but DQ is at 12/7/4 so far his rookie year. Jokic was 10/7/2.
It wasn't until Jokic's 4th year did he really break out.
DQ has had a great start to the year, and he was always going to hit some bumps in the road in his first year. Fears seemed to hit it a little earlier than DQ but I think we are seeing more of it right now from DQ. It's expected of almost every rookie.
The problem with all of this is we were playing through DQ and he was racking up assists and playing well for the most part. Then Zion started playing better and it's changed how we play on offense, and now we aren't playing through DQ as much anymore, which is beyond fricking stupid and the reason we've had such a hard time building any roster continuity with ole fatass over the last 7 years.
DQ has had 1 assist in each of the last 2 games, when he's average over 5 assists the previous 25 games, and i could care less what our record was during those games b/c developing DQ and a team around him is more important than whatever Zion is doing.
DQ's last 5 games he's only had just over 5 RPG, when the previous 23 games he was averaging 9.
Rookie wall, most likely, but i also don't like the direction they are going recently. I'd rather lose and see DQ struggle and try to figure it out, than play competitively while he's on the bench or playing a role that isn't for him.

Queen reminds me a little of Naz Reid athletically when Naz was at LSU. Naz wasn't very athletic in college and was a little heavy. He would be on a breakaway and barely dunk the ball. Now he's remade his body and has become a great athlete. I'm not sure if Queen has that in him, but I think he will get more athletic as his body matures.
