48V golf cart battery replacement

I am brand new to this world, and I’m fairly sure the cart I was gifted has bad batteries. Talking to some acquaintances, the LiTime seems to be what most are using. Their website is a little clunky, though. What do I need to buy? What do I need to avoid?

Don’t go cheap or buy some from china. There are more and more house fires happening because of golf cart batteries exploding

Also known as a $48k battery replacement......

Do you have a recommended brand?

Spend the money and get the Eco Battery and be done with it. They are a good bit more but they have 10yr warranty and are the best on the market and most reliable

Any recommendations for a shop or person to make the switch from acid to lithium? Could be northshore or south shore.

6 or 8 volt batteries, lithium or lead acid

Currently have lead 8V batteries, still holding out hope I can breathe some life into them. Working on that tonight. Been fooling around with them, thinking they’re 6V the whole time, so my unsuccessful attempts at reviving them was in error to begin with. Trying again now.

If you stick with lead acid buy US Battery brand. My first set lasted 7 years. Just put new one in around September. I have four 12 volt it cost me right at 1000

My last swap was through Batteries Plus, with Duracell batteries. Only a few months in but better/faster than the China batteries the last person swapped. I'm still not going the lithium route as there have been a few fires in my neighborhood. I'm sure they had cheap lithium but still not willing to risk it.

No I don’t. I would get them from a reputable golf cart center, they should be fine. I just wouldn’t get them off Amazon or somewhere like that

I used to buy the ones from Sam's Club that you have to check and refill with dionized water. They were cheaper and work well if you want to save some money.

Do you have links to explosions? I see some risks of fires from overheating during charging. I’d mitigate that by charging outside. No more use than this will get, I don’t see myself spending a premium for a “name brand.”

I was also gifted a cart…that appears to be pretty common when the batteries go dead! I ultimately chose to replace them with a moderately priced lead-acid batteries. Couldn’t risk spending a bunch on batteries and then the cart crapping out in 6 months. Mine’s been running on the replacement batteries for several years.

If you call your local polaris dealer, they can usually get you a deal on those. Still not great, but decent.

I do that any links but my good friends neighbors exploded in his garage a few months ago in Willow Grove neighborhood and burned a good portion of his home

I rebuilt my golf cart and put a LiTime battery in it about 6 months ago. It performs great and I haven't had any issues.
