I've had chest pains (on the right side) for the last couple of months. Doctor doesn't seem that concerned with it which made me feel a little bit better. Is this pretty much something that will be chronic or does it eventually heal up? I've tried resting for a couple of weeks with no results. Ibuprofen helps.

Clinical notes from my last visit.

Assessment & Plan
Right-sided chest pain:
- Symptoms not typical of cardiac-related chest pain, no exertional discomfort
- Low likelihood of heart issues at age 37
- Indicative of pectoral muscle strain or costochondritis
- Pectoral muscles have great size and powerful development. Thick, solid, tight.

I have had a few flare ups over the past couple of years. Freaking sucks. Took a while to diagnose and mine was on left side; so, I thought I was having a heart attack a few times. And then I thought I was gonna have it for the rest of my life.

A steroid pack finally helped knock the pain down. I then massaged (lacrosse ball or tennis ball between chest and a wall) and iced several times a day for a few weeks.

Knock on wood, I've been pain free for almost a year.

I'm going to start that today. Thanks.

Glad it went away. Mine isn't terrible pain, mostly just a dull ache and nothing sharp. It kind of freaks me out every time it flares up since it's in my chest. If it were on the left side like you I'd have really freaked out

I have had it for years on the left side. I'm getting to the age where chest pains should be taken seriously. I get a panic occasionally wondering what kind of pain it is. Doc told me to feel it out and find the source. If you can make it hurt from the outside, you are good.

I had it a couple of times when ramping up my chest lifting too fast.

Pretty much my story as well. Injured my sternum a few years ago and it appears it didn’t heal back completely/correctly. I aggravate it every once in a while. Add to that I need my left shoulder replaced and it will act up at times and would also make me think I was having heart attack. At this point I don’t think there’s anything left to check in my cardiovascular system. I feel a lot better about the situation now that they’ve eliminated all the other BS.

Dealt with it for several years and found a chiro in Lafayette that treated me and after about 5-7 visits it improved significantly and I was able to get back in the gym
Advil and ice would help temporarily
It’s a benign but very frustrating injury

For sure. It's never been bad enough to keep me from lifting but just bad enough to make me wonder if I should stop.

Thanks, I've been doing that the past week and it has helped.

Got 0s across the board on my CT Calcium scoring. That makes me feel better.
