There are exemptions but usually medical. Happened to me at LSU a long time ago. It was a pain in the arse process and I should have just sat out. But I wasn’t 6/5 300 and the governor could give two shits.

LSU grad & faculty member (different school) here. There are always multiple options to get students enrolled later in semester- especially today with online asynchronous options.

Lets think about this. Kiffin, Verge, University President, Governor you think they might have enough stroke to enroll whoever they want whenever they want. Heck he could probably enroll for online classes and qualify as long as he has prerequisite hour. He is not playing in a game he is just participating in practice. Or maybe Clemson's Dabo Swinney will rat him out like he did last season.

There is an accelerated spring semester that starts in early March before spring practice. And yes, they offer undergraduate courses. Several in Kinesiology, which is a common field of study for athletes. I assume he will go that route, but he may also get an exception to allow him to enroll late for the regular spring semester. Aside from the normal reasons (like medical), I know they sometimes do that for transfers, but I am not sure of the criteria.
