Dave's been obsessed with Metallica for 40 years and now that he's retiring he decided to cover one of their songs. Awful vocals here. As legendary a career as he has said, Dave is not going out on top with this one.

Is it really a cover when you wrote half the song?

Hetfield, Ulrich, Burton, and Mustaine all have writing credits for this song. I think you're giving Dave too much credit. Metallica did it better anyway. Dave is still bitter and jealous.

I don't think I am, he wrote the main riff and then some. It's Dave's song as much as it is Metallica's. I've never blamed Dave for holding a grudge. The rest of the band treated him like shite when they booted him out.

Imagine being driven enough to make your own incredibly successful metal band after being kicked out of what would become the most successful metal band of all time...

and still holding enough of a grudge 40 years later to cover a song on your final album

I respect what Dave has done musically but he's just a pathetic angry man

Tell us more of how you don’t know this history of Dave, Metallica and the songs he wrote. You know those legendary riffs from Kill and Lightning? Yeah, that’s Dave

I honestly don't follow your logic. If someone writes a song and chooses to perform it as a capstone, that makes them "pathetic and angry"?

How is this really any different than The Mechanix being on the first album?

I listened to about half of the new Megadeth album and gave up. It’s pretty generic and echoes most of what the last few albums have been. I’ll give it another try but nothing they have done in years really moves the needle.

FWIW, I don't really care if this is considered a cover or not. But I do love this clip of Dee Snyder having a chat with Ozzy in 1986. Even at that point people were taking shots at his bitterness of what happened.

I really just think it's a "full circle" kinda thing.
Not the first time that Mustaine has done this.
Mechanix off the "Killing Is My Business..." album is the exact same riff as The Four Horsemen off of "Kill 'Em All"...

"Even then" - you mean basically the immediate aftermath?

Yeah, this is a bad take, IMO.

I am a huge fan of both bands. Seen both live more than once.

While this album is underwhelming (again), Mustaine DID write several of those old Metallica songs, this one included. I see nothing wrong at all with doing this.

Also, the members of Metallica.....

It isn't like we don't have another example of them treating a former band member like shite. A very talented Jason Newstead says "hi". What they did to him recording AJFA was borderline criminal from a music standpoint. I love that album but the remastered versions online where you can actually hear the bass takes it up several notches.
