YouTube golfer Matt Scharff says he’s more athletic than LeBron James

Yes that title is as dumb as it sounds.
Basically his argument is that obviously LeBron would kill him in basketball and most other physical sports, but he would beat LeBron in sports that focus more on skill, hand eye coordination, technique, and I guess quickness?
Don’t shoot the messenger, because I think this is one of the dumbest takes of all time. Obviously he’d beat LeBron in golf, he says he’d beat LeBron in Tennis, maybe I’ve never seen either play tennis but if LeBron doesn’t play and Matt does sure
But he’s talking like he would smoke LeBron in pickle ball and even says he’d beat him in weightlifting
I’m pretty sure this is all just a ploy to get LeBron on the Good Good channel, he can’t actually believe this can he?

You took a half serious comment made by a YouTuber who is rarely ever serious about anything and started a thread about it

Matt is one of the reasons I stopped watching Good Good a few years ago. The guy is obnoxious as hell.

There are physical athletes like football players
There are skilled athletes like golfers
There are perfect specimens of humans that do both like tennis players

He's a good recreational golfer. There are guys at every country club across the country that are better at golf than Matt. He is the most annoying guy on that channel because he overstates his ability. He'll tell the camera he's going to hit a little punch baby draw from 190 out with an 8 iron and then push fade the ball 30 yards short.
Those par 4 aces were the worst thing that could've happened to Matt's golf game

Guys that aren’t great at golf but are atheltic and strong (like Matt and Bubbie) are usually the biggest morons on the course
170 out, give me my 9 iron
Sure, you CAN hit it that far. 5% of the time. But why don’t you just go ahead and grab the 8 iron or a smooth 7 because the chance of you perfectly flushing it is about zero

I haven't watched in a while but when I was watching, bubbie actually did mash everything. He was probably playing with lower lofted clubs, but his problem was always a pull hook. He didn't have a swing besides swing hard
but yea, I think they probably felt inferior to Garrett, Tig, Grant, etc so their club selection was always let me select the club for my best 1 out of 100 swing.
That's not unique to them in golf though. It's Matt's belief that he can shape the ball at will that I found most annoying. At least bubbie doesn't pretend he has a fade in the bag
Matt's thought process in shot selection shouldn't be the same as garrett's

I'll get blowback on this, but they don't count as aces. At least not the first one. I don't know what happened on the other(others?). Sure, it is a great shot, and I have never come close to pulling one off like that. However, they were playing a scramble. I can't remember now, but I think he was the last one to go and someone was already on the green. He had no pressure on him to produce a playable shot. So, great shot. I'd tell the story to everyone that would listen, but it's not an ace.

True. It makes me feel better too to know that a 300 yard hole in one isn't a big deal. Sometimes I forget that and I think I wish I had done something like that but then I remember that I made a birdie on my own once, which is just as good.

I'm glad we are on the same page.

what's funny is a massive slice was Bubbie's standard shot shape when he started on the channel, and now he's the complete opposite

depends on your definition of athletic.
You can define athleticism as someone who is simply smooth in how they run and jump, which will translate to them being superior athletes in sports like football and basketball
Or you can define it as someone who is talented at multiple sports.
To me someone that can excel at baseball, basketball, soccer and tennis, is an athlete.
I do not think Lebron has any talent whatsoever in baseball or tennis or soccer, and he sucks at golf.
I do think most QB's in the NFL would surprise you that they would beat the average joe's arse in basketball, tennis, golf, and even soccer.
Take Drew Brees for instance. One of the best QB's of all time, and used to hold his own with Andy Roddick in tennis matches when they were young. He was also considering playing college baseball, but stuck to football. Played high school basketball as well, and i would bet he's a near scratch golfer.
J.R. Smith is another one like that. Obviously made it to the NBA, but was recruited for football and baseball in high school before he gave up both his senior year to concentrate on basketball. Returned to college after his nba career to play golf, where he's a near scratch golfer.
Guys like that could play any sport and be great at them. That's an athlete to me.
