My ESPN rant for the day

Why did ESPN or YouTube TV or whoever is at fault quit distinguishing between men’s and women's basketball games on the listings? I get very annoyed when I’m looking at the television menu and am tricked into selecting a women’s basketball game unknowingly. The other day I see a listing for basketball that shows an Alabama vs Auburn basketball game. The description never mentions women’s basketball but describes it as the Iron Bowl of college basketball. After selecting it I immediately get to watch five minutes of commercials before the game broadcast begins again. It is women’s basketball. The Iron Bowl of basketball? Really? Same thing happens tonight. The listing shows Georgia Tech vs North Carolina. I select it, watch five minutes of commercials only to find out it is a women’s game. My gripe isn’t that women’s games are aired, it’s the deceptive game listing to encourage me to flip to the games.
I’m done with my Dear Facebook rant. Down vote away. I feel better now.

Brother, that is a very intentional act on their part.
Surely you know this, right?

You don't know when your mens and women's teams are playing?

Tangential to your point, but I was at the gym and some local news guy was talking about some WR that Mel Kiper had the Saints taking in the 1st round in a mock draft. I was like who gives af what Kiper says about one specific player 3 months before the draft.

Hated that on yttv. Switched to Hulu when yt lost ESPN. Hulu distinguishes mens or women's in the guide

The dudes only play on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
It's been that way forever. Just remember it like that.

They do it with score listing on their site ticker too. It's fricking nonsense and we all know what they're trying to pull. Just fricking stop ESPN.

Men’s games are mostly Saturday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Women’s are mostly Thursday and Sunday. For the SEC, I think all fall on that schedule.

ESPN does the same thing with their top story headlines
Example: “UNC SG [Last Name] tears ACL vs Duke; out for season”
You click it and it’s for women’s basketball. No mention of Lady Tarheels or WCBB just the generic title making you click on it. Absolutely intentional

That’s all they intended to do and against our will are succeeding in this practice

It sucks. My mind automatically goes to mens. If I see a score or a notification of a close game involving ranked opponents and it shows... South Carolina vs Oklahoma.. My first thought is "neither one of those teams are ranked".. Then I realize its womens. But I used the app TheScore and it does a good job letting you sort things.. So most times, at some point of the day, I glance at the games. The men's... sometimes the women's so I usually see if there are any matchups of meaning
But days are a good indicator. Women are usually Thursdays and Sundays.

Similarly, It still makes me irrationally mad every time I see the MCWS. It’s the College World Series. It you want to call the softball the WCWS, that is perfect. The men’s is still the CWS.

I’ve noticed the same, I especially get confused when it’s UCONN because their men’s and women’s teams are both highly ranked.

You are not alone, I fell for that also.

Of course its intentional.
EXCEPT when you get to the College World Series, which now HAS to be called the Men's College World Series
