We have to be going interstellar soon, right? It’s been renewed for a final season 6 that goes into production soon for a 2027 release.

quote:

Season Five of For All Mankind picks up nine years after the Goldilocks asteroid heist. Happy Valley has grown into a thriving colony with thousands of residents and a base for new missions that will take us even further into the Solar System. But with the nations of Earth now demanding law and order on the Red Planet, friction continues to build between the people who live on Mars and their former home.

It’s time to go Altered Carbon and clone Ed.

I like Joel Kinnaman, just wish he’d do more series like The Killing. Loved that show.

This has been one of the best slow-burn payoffs in the past 10 years. A little worried that it looks like Kelly is going to emerge as the emotional center. Not sure the actress or the character can handle the weight. I also don't trust Ron Moore that much given what he did to the last two seasons of Battlestar Galactica.

Yes, it has been a great series especially if you enjoy space travel etc.

Its pretty good SciFi and unique in that it presents an alternative history in which the space race between the major powers never ceased and we continued to push the envelope on human exploration of the solar system pass just landing on the moon. There is a lot of human drama and interesting twists on historical events that ground it in way that makes it more than just a space show.

Season 3 got so DEI I had to walk away. So many forced quotas that took away from show.

If you are turned off by DEI , I;m surprised you made past season 1

That stuff doesnt bother me but some of the melodrama... POSSIBLE SPOILERS

especially the stuff between Gordo's son and Ed's wife......was just cringe tastic.

Still really like the show though

Gordo’s kids are the worst characters in the show by far. Season 3 was the weakest and I thought it recovered in Season 4.

Nice. I think I’ll go back and rewatch the whole thing.

That did suck, but it got better in Season 4. Not pushed quite as hard.

Hopefully Ed’s got one more season left in him.
quote:

The last season will bring the series into the 2020s, says showrunner Matt Wolpert: “I think from the beginning, the thing that we were focused on, and we didn't know quite how many seasons it would take to get there, was that we wanted to reach the present day. We wanted to tell the arc of the story from the initial divergence of 1969, and then reach the present moment, and see just how different the world we’re in now could have been had we kept pushing for progress and kept pushing forward as a species.”

In the 2020s. The frustrating thing watching the show is wondering where we could be today if we had not just stopped trying. Mankind has turned inward since the 70s.

Yeah i had the same experience.

When the vibe turns to religious preaching (in this case, DEI) i usually get turned off enough to stop watching.

Agreed and that's the real point of the show in my mind.

There's some DEI, fluff, and jump the shark moments baked-in, but it boils down to what things might have looked like but for trillions spent on a half century of wars that went nowhere.

Good to know. I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons, but only watched the premiere of S3 and just kind of got distracted/wasn't interested at the moment and completely fell off.

I should try to pick it back up.

First episode was pretty good. I thought watching it, with the scope of this series, man, we’ve been through a lot with these dumb people.

I liked the premiere too. Looking forward to the war for Martian independence and seeing the missions to Jupiter and Saturn. Alex’s friend that left to join the Marines will definitely come back as a redcoat.

Ed can’t die of cancer. He only has to make it one more season. Buzz Aldrin is still kicking so Ed can too.

My guess is the North Korean government is behind the murder to punish the guy for defecting.
