It's that time of the year again . With a massive snow/ice/sleet/rain storm predicted for this weekend, suggestions would be to try and beat the storm before it's expected to pick up. Saturday and Sunday look nasty across the south so definitely try to avoid DFW, BNA, CLT, and ATL.

Um...i'm going to take a guess you're not going to get in. International flights probably a better chance, but still...

Forecast for Houston, not even IAH, is AM ice. What airline are you on? Flexibility to change plans? Or are you okay getting stuck in PTY for an extra night?

If your plane is coming from Houston, decent shot it doesn't make it out on Sunday morning

That didnt take long to figure out you're on the 441pm getting into IAH at 810pm. That plane comes from houston and leaves at 10am. I'd highly recommend changing to a different flight if you can. If you want to get stuck in PTY, then you'll have a chance to change to a flight on Monday if you want. But still be cautious that it doesn't look like houston gets above freezing until Monday morning around 11am. Runways will need to thaw out

Is this the part of the thread, that regardless of the advisories issued in the South, people still think i's a great idea to fly through MSP, ORD, EWR, LGA, JFK, etc. during the winter and not expect delays?

Watching closely

Schedule to fly from SLC to MSY on Saturday morning (delta) and I think I’ll be okay but won’t let my guard down.

Ya I'm not coming back early that's for sure

Might check out a soccer game Sunday if we're jammed up.

Not seeing any waivers yet.

Funny enough, we booked the trip exactly to best avoid a winter scenario like this. Oh well.

Not good. That lft-iah will be one of the first to cancel. How badly do you need to be in Chicago? Saturday looks okay for IAH before Saturday night

When United posts the waiver, change your flight to Monday for free. Don't take the first flight of the day because that's assuming the plane gets out of iah Sunday night. I think the 11am would leave Houston on Monday morning which is still iffy if it's not above freezing there until midday Monday

Got rebooked. Should land in ATL at 3:35PM. MEM may be iffy but at least gets us back in the states. Fingers crossed.

perfect. It's always amusing how it's a split of business and personal travel on here where some people really need help getting places and others are like nahh I'm good with it cancelling

With the current weather in Chicago, I’m hoping it gets canceled!
