Dream scenario is Leavitt is so good he’s one and done, then Longstreet is so good that he’s one and done as a RS sophomore, and then a Rs frosh Houston can come in and take the reins. Either way, we’ve got some studs in that room.

Edit: Clark, too, he’s got the physical tools with the arm and speed to be good. I don’t think he’s got as high of a floor or ceiling of the other two, but he can prove me wrong. In Lane we trust.

Longstreet will be in year 3 by the time Houston is on campus. Not to write him off, but I don't see anyone beating out Longstreet in 2027 unless Leavitt sticks around for another year.

Clark is good, too, and will get his shot.

Houston battling it out in year one is unlikely.

Houston likely wont be ready to take meaningful snaps until his RS freshman season in 2028. Longstreet will be a RS Junior if he's still around.

Its the perfect bridge for a QB situation in my opinion. Houston could very well be QB1 in his RS sophmore season... but also, these kids dont have much patience in today's era. So who knows...

The downside of the portal era is that even with the Portal King on board you can never really count your chickens. Hatched or otherwise.

Probably best for everyone’s mental health to view everyone here as 1 year rentals. The days of projecting the next starting QB based on recruits or the current depth chart are in the past. The staff will be on the hunt for a new starter if leavitt leaves and Longstreet hasn’t shown much in practice/spot duty/packages

Agreed... Swing for the fences year to year. Theres no such thing as "building a roster for the future" unless the NCAA change the transfer rules.

The reality is one of those 2 QBs won’t finish his career at LSU. The portal has made everything very unpredictable. I trust Lane in this era more than any other coach though.

Don't sleep on clark. He has a confirmed 73 yard touchdown pass. That's 73 yards in the air. For shits and giggles,at a camp he threw it 83 yards flat footed. No run up or anything.

If everything plays out right this year with Leavitt's recovery (from what Brandon Taylor said, that is a likely possibility), Leavitt could come and throw for 3600 yards 30 TDs and run for 400 yards yards and 5 TDs, and declare for the draft.

Then Longstreet and Clark can compete for starter with Houston getting random G5/FCS reps. Clark is great to me, but Longstreet's talent is just superior.

Longstreet comes back and we might lose Clark, but Houston would be the primary backup in 2nd year and would basically be the Kiffin blueprint at that point. If he gets with the program and look at what happened to the guys in front of him, this is an amazing position to be in.

Houston plays as a redshirt sophomore (same as what Arch Manning did). And he has 2 years.

If LSU is good enough, Houston will get some reps in his 2nd season as primary backup. Miles Brennan threw 40 passes in 2019 and had about 49 plays from scrimmage.

Some of you guys wish and hype to absurd levels sometimes. Are you seriously suggesting that a sophomore with one year of experience is going to the NFL as a high draft pick?

He didn’t get much playing time at USC, so you can’t use that as an extra year.

If Longstreet is competing with Houston for a job then he is not good

Having a redshirt sophomore who was a top three qb in his recruiting class and a consensus five star in what should be one of the best systems in cfb going into the draft and then being picked is not crazy at all. That would’ve been Leavitt this year, if he hadn’t been injured. Now, my point was that’s the dream, that he ends up being great and then only starts one really elite season before turning it over to Houston. However, since that’s unlikely, it will be interesting to see how the two duel for the qb1 spot.
