Hollywood Death Spiral: Bank to Foreclose on Historic TV Studios After Loan Default

Apple makes commercials suggesting that all you need is an iPhone to make movies and TV. Some of that is true for blogs, newscasts, documentaries and limited live production. The trend has enough truth for far more reasons than Apple.
Then too the real threat to Hollywood is AI and streaming. Technology is turning the whole world of media production upside down. Not so long ago, the established world of audio mixing and engineering died when any half decent home computer could do what $1m rooms used to do. The same happened to video and film production for much the same reason. Old production studios dried up and blew away as a result.

A bank is set to take over ownership of an historic Los Angeles TV and film studio because the current owner has defaulted on the $1.1 billion loan, as Hollywood continues its collapse.
Goldman Sachs is reportedly on the verge of taking control of the famous Radford Studio Center in Studio City, California, because Hackman Capital Partners (HCP) can’t seem to come up with the cash to stay current on its mortgage, according to The Wrap.

Radford, where series such as Seinfeld and Gilligan’s Island were filmed, was founded in 1927 when silent film producer Mack Sennett opened the facility at Ventura Boulevard and Radford Avenue. The studios became the California home for CBS in the early 60s before being bought outright by the TV giant in 1967 when it became the base production facilities for other famed shows including Gunsmoke, Get Smart, My Three Sons, Bob Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore and so many more.

They have nobody to blame but themselves. It isn't all related to Hollywood being Woke, but it is the foundational problem.
I know it was a long time ago, but Hollywood used to have a strong contingent of people who were actually proud to be American. During World War II, big stars like Jimmy Stewart and others put their careers on hold to enlist in the military. Stewart, Charles Bronson, Charles Bronson and others became war heroes. And actresses like Ava Gardner spent a lot of time entertaining troops and selling war bonds to raise money.
But, today? We have mostly uneducated fools like George Clooney, Patton Oswalt,Jimmy Kimmel (more of a puppet than a Hollywood guy),Alyssa Milano, etc, etc. who regurgitate radical, anti-American talking points on a regular basis.
RIP, Hollywood.

Couldn't hurt any to have well written dialog and a interesting story to tell. They can cut out a lot of the explosions and chases and replace with acting and storyline.

Name the last Best Picture Oscar winner without a woke theme, thanks

Forget about the woke stuff and look at the economics of working in California. All the taxes and regulations make it expensive to film there. More and more states are offering tax incentives to film there, plus you have England and other countries offering big tax incentives plus cheaper labor. There's more movies and shows than ever being produced now. They're just doing it outside of California.

Hollywood is dead. They don't have the actors or writers of the past. It's comic book movies, woke bullshite, and remakes. Who gives a shite?

"Woke" leftist themes featuring socialism, gays, trannies, grooming and anti-Americanism doesn't help Hollywierd, but the killing shift is major changes in technology.
All of NYC's production facilities went out of business about 30 years ago. They had millions in equipment and personnel costs, and then along came things like Avid and Adobe. Those entire multimillion dollar facilities are now found in Adobe Creative software for $60 to $70 per month with the only difference being that it is now much more advanced in a many ways.

You lefties seem to be particularly and even unusually agitated the past 24 hours or so.
Dude, I've never said that every problem is due to the woke virus. That's simply you lying thru your teeth once again. But, are you actually willing to die on the hill of claiming that Hollywood isn't woke? Seriously, bro.

This is one of the greatest movies of the last three decades, and was made with a budget of under a million dollars.

Never heard of the 'Radford' Studio, but apparently that's been the new name of the CBS Studios in Studio City. I'm thinking that was also the old Republic studios lot, which leased spaces for (MCA) Revue productions in the 50s, before the latter merged with Universal in the early-60s and their product switched over to filming at Universal City. I think (but I'm not 100% sure) that Four-Star Productions in the 1960s filmed there, stuff like "BIg Valley," "Burke's Law," and "Honey West," although the Four Star library of tv-series ultimately were bought by Fox. Which in turn was bought by Disney, which keeps its old film properties so clamped down and unavailable to everyone's consternation.
It's a real maze trying to keep the studios straight, and who has owned what through the years. I usually try not to even bother. Too headache-inducing. But I always hate to see more history wiped away.

I am wondering if you believe people are concerned about your opinions.
Not really. They don’t really care.

Maybe. Maybe not but you are certainly not someone that anyone cares about here other than the other commies.
It is what it is.
You’ve always been a POS liberal. That was your choice.

Learn to read. I said it wasn't Hollywood's only problem.

.... actresses like Ava Gardner ...
I am a HUGE Ava Gardner fan. I've visited her gravesite, toured her museum, read books about her and pretty much lusted after her beauty since I was a kid.
But she was a troubled soul and a devout socialist with seriously f'ed up political views her entire life.
Her beauty and sexuality garnered her a lot of passes along the way.
While she definitely did some publicity tours, and visited troops, at the behest of the studio .... she did so with some disdain.
She voted, and campaigned for, Communist candidate Howard Wallace in 1948 and she made McCarthey's un-American list shortly afterwards in the height of the Red Scare.
She was also a staunch supporter and practitioner of abortion, reportedly having as many as six ... including two of Frank Sinatra's .
She was one of the original destructors of Hollywood ... and she often spoke poorly of the U.S. while choosing to live in Spain and Britain during much of her adult life (35+ years) in protest of anti-Soviet, anti-Communist American policies during the height of the Cold War.
She was, by every metric, a groundbreaking far left liberal progressive wackadoodle Hollyweirdo.
She died at 67, miserably, from a life of over excesses.
I view her life from a tragic perspective. She made bad bad choices over and over again. But God gifted her with incredible natural archetypal stunning beauty, and the sex appeal of a goddess ... and she had been my obsession since puberty.
The problem with Hollywood is that, these days, everyone there has Ava Gardner's piss poor political sensibilities ... and it's finally catching up with them.
Plus, they are incapable of making new movies or TV series worth a damn.
