Things can’t continue like this in college athletics

Imagine each sport every season loosing half their squad and then go shopping for a replacement squad, this is not sustainable. Seems Tigers have done an outstanding job in the portal, however this will not be fun.

every year will be 40 new players, and 30 million gone, it cant sustain itself.

Only way it continues is you will be paying $30 for a Canes samich and they will have to seale a shite ton of them! No matter how well we do next year, I do not like the new college football!

The next logical step is unions like pro sports to manage universities and players. This will not self correct and government will not get involved

It’ll happen as long as there’s interest in the wealthy paying for it. Despite people ranting about the current state of the sport, viewership isn’t down.

The guys donating money aren’t donating earnings from their W2 job. They are kicking over a small percentage of their rapidly growing stock portfolio.
It can and will go on like this until there is a CBA and/or congress steps in.
I am fine with how it is, how was, and how it will be in the future. I like LSU athletics.

I’m just poor baw but it seems hard to believe they can come up with 30 million every year. Add in another couple million for basketball, baseball, and women’s basketball. Just doesn’t seem sustainable.

Yeah. People always act like it’s about returns. The people paying most of the money are not looking for any return other than a championship. They get returns in their own business time. It’s like Jay Leno buying cars. He buys them because he loves them.

Honestly, this thing needs player contracts. No 1yr deals unless the player will be out of eligibility after that year.

The only pro sport without a salary cap is MLB. It’s a dying sport popularity wise
That tells me CFB will have to adapt a salary cap of some sort.

It's sustainable until it isn't.
To fix it would require a heretofore never achieved solidarity among the major conferences. It ain't happening anytime soon.
I assume you read that Miami and ND AD's said the cap is too small. Does that indicate that the escalation of player payments will stop?
Is there a single group that represents the collective will of the players themselves. Nope.
The dude from Texas Tech has many allies that want one media rights deal negotiated collectively instead of by conference. That fight will rage for years.
The Sports Commission still doesn't have every team, conference signed up to abide the system and no one even knows if it will hold up in court if challenged. (It's a stupid alternative to having a cap.)
And that ain't all...
In summary it's a Humpty Dumpty situation and a clusterfrick all rolled into one gigantic shite sandwich.

It cant and wont. But you have to give LSU credit for playing the game how its supposed to be played right now. Part of the reason why Lane left Ole Miss is because things will get back to more normalcy soon.

I don't care anymore. Let's spend 60 million next year. It's not our money

What's going to happen to "Louisiana" in a few years if (or when) they can't field a competent football team?

These billionaires are only getting richer. Let them keep throwing money around for us

Something that can help it is players entering portal and not being grabbed OR for less $

I know coaches are compensated well but the burnout is going to happen quick
These coaches get no time off
It’s straight from the season to signing day and portal recruiting and right into offseason workouts followed by spring football

I think some coaches actually prefer the one year contract model, at least the ones at the more desirable programs. It's more advantageous for the top schools to be able to evaluate and move on if they want.
